Sorry, I did get it that next week, but then it didn’t get read until January because of the new baby…
I hope my response doesn’t dissapoint!
But yes, I had the same reaction as CC, actuall- there was very very little about the vikings- what I remember had much more- I am guessing I should have not re-read it, as the memory was much more satisfying than the book.
It has taught me a bit about the author though- apparently she is rather well known for leaving things in an unfinished state, or not even trying for traditional ‘happy’ endings, which is odd in children’s literature- usually it is either out and out heartbreaking, or it is resolved with a milkshake!
But no- I am happy I put the mystery to rest. I have been thinking about that damn book for twenty years- nearly thirty years! I now have transferred the same sort of interest to another book that I know won’t be that good- I remember much more of it, but it isn’t worth searching for…
