I have been looking for stats about concussions in the NFL, by position, for years 2008 and earlier. I have found stats for 2009 and 2010, but am having trouble finding earlier numbers. My Google-fu is failing me. If anyone can help I would really appreciate it!

Well, I’ve got the cell phone number for one of the top concussion experts in the nation, who happens to sit on the sidelines with a NFL team and a top state university team, but I don’t think he would like it much if I posted it on the internet.
Sorry, not really much help here. My understanding is the importance of proper concussion diagnosis/care really hasn’t registered until recently which is probably why you are having trouble finding stats from past years.
I just read something today about a top concussion guy (not the same one I know) who was just given the “Genius Grant.” so if you Google that it may come up on one of the major news sites. Just did so with Genius Grant Concussion and his name is Dr. Kevin Guskiewicz so that may give you a starting point. Good luck in your search, and if you can I’d be interested in seeing any stats you can dig up.
