Need help with a songs play list

I’m hosting a festival and am in charge of the music. I’m putting together a play list of hits from the late 60’s to the late 70’s. Looking for songs that easily recognizable or easy to sing along with - Pop or light rock.

Suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

What kind of vibe are you going for?

Mellow, trippy?

Anything by John Denver (Annie’s Song, Sunshine on My Shoulders)
Dust in the Wind
Fun, dancy? Kitschy, but fun?

Anything by Abba
I Will Survive
Anything by KC and the Sunshine Band
YMCA

Here’s a link to the Top 5 Songs of every year going back to 1949 (as determined by Billboard). Should be plenty of recognizable tunes in there.

A-a-afternoon delight!

Just from a quick scan of my iTunes

Grazing in the Grass (Friends of Distinction)

Smoke of a Distant Fire (Sanford and Townsend)

September (Earth Wind and Fire)

Let’s Stay Together (Al Green)

Born To Run (Bruce Spr. . . ah hell, you know who did that song)

Thanks so far.

I’m looking for those songs that stand out in terms of melody, maybe even cloying melody. Not necessarily ‘good’ songs, songs that got a lot of airplay. Afternoon Delight (mentioned above) is a good example.

Maybe even one-hit-wonders.
