Need Hootenanny songs for Boomers

So I’m supposed to have some songs “everyone knows” to play on guitar for a sing-along. These are Baby Boomers–in the 45-60 age range. I’m thinking “Brown Eyed Girl” and…some other stuff.

Any suggestions?

Anything from the 60s – Beatles, Motown, etc.

OK, let’s bump this and see if we get anything more specific.

I’m not quite young enough to be a true Boomer, but here are a few I could sing along with, or at least carry the tune to:

If I Had A Hammer
Where Have All The Flowers Gone
John Henry
St. James Infirmary
Tom Dooley
Scotch and Soda
Yesterday
Eleanor Rigby
Midnight Rider
Stormy Monday
Light My Fire
Big Boss Man

“I Think I Love You”

I just saw Michael Clem and Jake Shimabukuro perform this song last week, and although Jake claims to have never heard it before (he jotted down the chord progressions just before the show), the “boomers” in the audience were sure singing along with it.

Eagles: Desperado

Crosby, Stills and Nash: Suite: Judy Blue Eyes; Teach Your Children

John Denver: Rocky Mountain High; Take Me Home, Country Roads

Creedence: Suzy Q; Heard it Through the Grapevine

Grand Funk Railroad: Closer to Home

Don McLean: American Pie

John Denver: Leavin’ on a Jet Plane

Peter, Paul & Mary: Blowin’ in the Wind

How about the two soundtracks (The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack](http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00000AFE8/qid=1148334074/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/103-5102539-9755811?s=music&v=glance&n=5174) and More Songs from the Original Soundtrack) for The Big Chill?

Kumbaya.
