Need help with Kodak digital camera.

Need help with Kodak digital camera.

I have been using a RICOH digital for years but it finally failed so the company bought me a new Kodak Z700 digital to replace the RICOH. I need to be able to copy photos to word documents so I can identify the scene or individuals and re-size the pictures. I also need to size photos to my own specs, not the Kodak specs so I can make and print employee ID’s. So far, I have not been able to figure out how to copy a picture to a word document. Do I have the wrong camera? Any help much appreciated.

The camera has little to do with what you are asking. Once you take the pictures and copy them to your computer in JPG format, it’s simply a matter of what photo/image software you use.

How did you do things with your old camera? What steps did you take?

I’m assuming you’ve already transferred the pictures from your camera to your computer…
For inserting the picture into the Word document, you can click on Insert - Picture - From File, and navigate to the picture you want to insert. You can then resize it in manually in Word. Click on the picture once, and you’ll notice black squares in the corners and in the center of each side. Click on one of these squares and drag the picture to the desired size. If you click on the corner squares, it will stay in correct proportion - using one of the side squares will only reduce its height or width.

If you have a program like Adobe Photoshop Elements (which sometimes comes free with digital cameras), you can go resize the photo there by going to Image - Resize - Image Size, and enter in the sizes you want. If you’ll be working with several pictures at a time, you can also go to File - Batch Processing, and select the correct parameters to allow you to resize a group of pictures at once.

Most of the time most PCs with the MS Office Suite also have the MS Photo Editor applet as an installable option (or already installed) which will do everything you want re resizing and image adjustment.

As far as getting the photos to the PC in the easiest manner possible an inexpensive USB memory card reader is your best bet. Take your photo memory card into Circuit City or elsewhere and they’ll sell you the correct reader. They are often on sale for $ 15-20 or so.
