Need help with older model stereo

I picked up a nice compact system at a church yard sale, a JVC MX-1 Compact Compo. It runs like a dream, but it didn’t come with either the remote control or the manual. When I called JVC, I was told that they didn’t have the manual, but I could get the remote.
For the low, low cost of only…$43!
I calmly explained to the person on the other end of the line that remotes, unlike coins and comics, do not go up in value as they grow older, and that I would just skip purchasing their remote and will just go get a universal remote for less than half the price.

Does anyone know where I might find the manual?

JVC America - online user manuals. Couldn’t find your model number though.

I’vre already checked the website. I also e-mailed them and got an automated e-mail back telling me that they had what I wanted if I called their 1-800 number.

Try The Manual Man. This guy works all the big hamfests in the Northeast and either has, or can get, manuals for nearly any piece of gear you can name. I’ve met him, he’s a good guy. If anyone can track down your manual, he can.

Just tried it. He hasn’t updated the list since 1999, and the model I want isn’t on the list.

Email him. He’s still around. If he doesn’t have what you need listed, he can often get it.

Just did. If this pans out, next time you’re in Portland dinner’s on me.

On the off chance that he doesn’t reply, are there any other sources for manuals?
