I need to find out how an American upper-class household was run in (or close to) the 1870s. How many servants, what each one’s duties were, stuff like that.
Recommendations of books, articles, websites, or anything else would be appreciated.

Also “The Gilded Age” by Twain… Perhaps not an an accurate account of the upper class themselves, but an accurate account of what he thought about them.
