need housekeeping tips for a humid climate

I knew I was moving somewhere there was more humidity but it’s still a shock when I reach for a dishcloth - or anything that was damp yesterday and hung up - and it’s still damp. :frowning:

the other morning I went for a tube of facial scrub in the shower and found black stuff inside the cap - yuck! (mold? mildew? I don’t know the difference)

I have a small AC in the wall but don’t run it all the time.

now: what do you advise? I visited a friend in Florida once and I remember she washed all the towels, washcloths, etc after one use: is that really necessary?

I bought a sqeegee to dry the shower but it’s still kind of damp.

(spiders are bigger here, too. just a bonus complaint!)

You could get a dehumidifier.

Where did you move to? I remember you posting about wanting to move to a new place but I never saw where you decided on.

Oregon! it’s beautiful and I think I can adjust but…well, could use advice. I remember we had a humidifier in our basement when I was growing up in Minnesota. you just went down and emptied the water every day or two.

so, that’s an option.

there is an exhaust fan in the bathroom.
