My wife is a fledgling knitter. She’s made a couple of things but it looking for a good online source for information and patters for a beginner.
I know some of you are knitters so I ask you, where would you direct me?

knitting.about.com good basic stitch guides. Some of their patterns have errors, though, so be careful with them.
The Knitting Community on LiveJournal. Excellent source of overall discussion and help with knitting questions.
There are at least two active threads right now (posted in today, actually) that have lots of good info.
