The eighties were big with films that dealt with nuclear war, whether on a Hollywood scale like The Day After or something far more down to earth like Testament. Recently I heard there was a Russian film that was in the same vein as the aforementioned movies.
Does anyone know the name of the film? The general plot (beyond the obvious)? Is it available on VHS or some other format?
Damn. I remember a Russian movie like that, I just can’t remember the title. I think an actor named “Bruno” (first name) was in it. Like that’s really helpful, I know.
I could have the wrong movie, though. I think the title will come to me eventually. I think I remember seeing it at Blockbuster, though.
Do searches here: http://www.imdb.com/
Perhaps this will help.
Or perhaps not.
Thanks GuanoLad. Well, at least I found my movie, with the actor named “Bruno” in it. http://us.imdb.com/Title?0089869 (“The Quiet Earth”) Well, it wasn’t Russian, it was from New Zealand. When I’m off, I’m waaaay off. But at least I now know the title to this movie. It was really bugging me.
WOOO-HOOOO!!! Someone else who has actually seen–and liked–The Quiet Earth. I saw it in college with some friends, and about half of us liked it and raved about it all night, and the other half … well, just kind of stared. Anyway, I’ll probably have to rent it again this weekend to see what I’ve forgotten.
As for the Russian movie, I did some searches on the IMDB and came up with zilch. Do you have any more details on the movie?
I searched imdb and google, came up with nothing which is why I posed the question here.
No, I don’t have any other information about the movie. I kept searching for Threads/The Day After etc. because that’s where I first saw the name of the movie. I first heard of it when TBS was showing Threads way back in the eighties and the announcer mentioned the Soviets had their own version.
