Need software rec: create photo collage slideshow

Need software that creates a slideshow of photo collages with music that you can burn onto a DVD. Yes, this is for a funeral.

First pass I found “Kizoa” which seems very good and apparently does everything I need. It will me $65 to upgrade to the version that burns DVD’s. See here

I certainly don’t mind paying for the software if it is good. Anyone have experience or recommendations?

I have been using ProShow Gold, and it is 1) very easy to use, 2) very easy to make adjustments, 3) easy to add your own soundtrack to, and 4) will burn to DVDs. You can incorporate both still images and video clips (.avi or .mov, or other formats) really easily.
I think it was about $60 as well, maybe $80.

I have had a couple questions on how to do a couple (non standard) things, and their technical support was both timely and answered all my questions.

Thanks Cormac, I like it!

My slides run about 10 minutes, and I have 60 minutes of music. Do you know how to repeat the slides over the music?

I use GraphicConverter which is shareware and runs in non-crippled mode during the evaluation period. Aim it at a folder of pics, pick out your music, and use the “Convert” menu to create a movie that is a slideshow and will play on any computer that can play movie files.

Since you have a set amount of music (in a set order), all you would do is just repeat the set of images 6 times (or more if you like). I am thinking Pro Show will allow you to “select”, then “copy” and “paste” that whole segment of images, including durations and transitions between images, but I’d have to check.
Even if you have to “re place” each image, it is pretty easy. And I know you can “select all” and set a transition and duration for all the images.

Hint: rename the image files starting with a (2 or 3 digit) number like “001Image1.jpg”, “002image2.jpg”, etc. So you do your “ordering” by naming the images. This is the slow part - deciding on the order you want them to appear. Then, in ProShow, you open the folder with the images and “select all” the images, and plop them (en mass) into the timeline - presto: they’re all in the desired order !
You would do this 5 more times “appending” to the timeline each time, and you now have your 60 minutes worth of images (after you adjust the duration).

Cormac, that worked perfectly. I selected all, copy, paste, paste and now I have 240 slides instead of 80 and the music and transitions are aligned properly.

Thanks again!

Great ! Glad I could help.
