a recent thread motivated me to dig out my copy of Final Fantasy X and replay it. I’m trying to get the two secret aeons. At the temple where you get Anima, it indicates that I missed a secret treasure in one of the previous temples. I’ve gone back and rechecked every temple except Bevelle where the gates are locked. Is it possible to re-enter Bevelle or am I screwed? Otherwise, I’ve beaten Omega and entered Sin where I also killed Seymour (again).
You can’t ever re-enter the city of Bevelle itself, but if you go to Bevelle via the airship, you end up where you fought Seymour. If I’m correct, you should be able to enter the Cloister of Trials through a door behind where you fought him.
Hope this helps. Good luck!
Adam
Actually, I don’t think you need to get the treasure in Bevelle to unlock Anima. Are you sure you got all the special treasures?
I got the “destruction sphere” treasures for the other temples; if not the first time then on my return trips. I’ve also had the little chats with the fayth for all the “regular” aeons (except Bahamut in Bevelle) and Yojimbo. 'Til I get Anima, I can’t get the Three Sisters, dammit.
Some desultory web searching indicates that, according to one source anyway, barring the use of cheat devices it is impossible not to get the Bevelle treasure as it is part of a “forced event” that advances the plot. I also seem not to have completed the Zanarkand puzzle entirely, as I didn’t do the part where you activate all the white squares. When I get home from work I’ll give that a whirl and see if that is the bit that I am missing.
I want those extra aeons since I am mainly playing through this time just to fight (and actually defeat!) the area conquest and “created” monsters at the “monster ranch.” Those buggers are all so tough that I need every edge I can get. Yu Yevon, Seymour, Sin, and Omega are all pussies by comparison.
Yes they are. In fact, the Sin/Yu Yevon fight at the end becomes intensely lame once you’re powerful enough to deal with the ranch monsters.
Ever wondered how that monster rancher guy keeps those baddies from wiping out the planet?
Minor spoiler, so…
[spoiler]It’s the lamest fight in the game. You can’t lose it!"
Semi-related question does anybody know what the lyrics to “The Hymn of the Fayth” are? I’m hearing impaired and can’t make out the words at all.
Clearly, he’s Tom Bombadil.
Seriously. Next time you’re up against Yu Yevon or the immediately preceding bosses, take a look at the halos over your characters’ heads. That’s auto-life, and it’s always on in this battle.
How powerful do you have to be to stand a chance against those original monsters in the monster arena? Ugh, one blow from one of those and even the Magus Sisters get crushed. I tried casting auto-life on everyone, but I end up wasting all my turns trying to keep it active. I only have Yuna’s ultimate weapon. No way am I doing all that other stuff to get the others. Dodging 200 lightning strikes in a row? Yeah, right.
www.gamefaqs.com has extensive guides for Final Fantasy X, including one to get all the aeons. Try looking there.
Absurdly.
Basically, the characters have to have finished their own section of the sphere grid and made a good start on someone else’s section (I had Rikku casting black magic, and Lulu casting white almost as well as Lulu/Yuna by the time I was having any luck with them.)
Most of the weapons aren’t bad, but the lightning strikes is awful.
I can never win the Chocobo Balloon Bird race, so I can’t get Tidus’ weapon.
Tidus and Lulu, I just gave up and made fake ultimate weapons. They don’t have the situational bonus to damage, but the other parts could be put on them.
I still want to see Lulu’s real UW in action.
The balloon bird race drove me nuts, BUT I DIIIIIID IIIIIT!
Bwa ha ha ha!
does silly Snoopy dance
It’s been years, and I still feel the VINDICATION whenever I remember the moment when I DIIIIID IIIIIT!
On the other hand, Bahamut kept killing my ass.
Well, it was the Zanarkand puzzle that I overlooked holding me up. Since I got home from work, I’ve accomplished the following:
- Picked up both secret aeons.
- Completely activated Auron’s celestial weapon.
- Completely activated Yuna’s celestial weapon.
- Completely activate Lulu’s celestial weapon. Yeesh, my thumb hurts from dodging those lightning bolts. Tedious!
- Acquired the celestial weapons for the other character’s, save Wakka. Don’t have sigils or crests for any of them.
Lulu’s Onion Knight, when fully activated makes her powerful as hell. You can double cast Ultima for a grand expenditure of 2 MP and no 9999 limit on the damage. Combine that with a “haste” spell from Tidus cast on her, and sh is easily capable of decisively winning against most monsters otherwise unaided.
Oh yes, I also won a blitzball tournament and got a second reel for Wakka’s overdrive. I think there are three total available. I frigging hate blitzball and don’t know if I’m willing to play the huge amount necessary to get Wakka’s celestial weapon.
Getting Wakka’s weapon is easy if you’re willing to shell out some money to put together a nice blitzball team and reset the statistics between tournaments.
It’s been a while since I’ve played, so I don’t remember the exact team I put together. Looking over my FFX strategy guide, I’m pretty sure I used Tidus, Brother and Wakka as my forwards. They all have decent endurance and high shooting power at level 1, and the Jecht shot makes Tidus damn near unstoppable. I think I used Ropp (Mi’ihen Highroad) and Svanda (Calm Lands) as my defense because they both have insanely high block and attack stats. Lastly, I used Jumal as my goalie, cause he has the second-highest catching stat in the game at level 1*.
With this team, your ability to score goals is decent, but your ability to block the other team from scoring is phenomenal.
*The highest belongs to the Al-Bhed goalkeeper, but I think he cost more money.
I don’t have the “Jecht Shot.” I guess because I didn’t beat the “whack-a-mole” minigame where you help Tidus banish his self-doubt. Keepa is a pretty darn good goalie. The only time shots get by him is if he’s been hit by “nap shot.” You can wake your other players by hitting them with the ball. any way to wake a goalie?
