Need songs about pregnancy

Oh! and “Lightning Crashes” by Live

Doug’s Birthday Song by Uncle Bonsai.

I’d include David Bowie’s “Kooks” - not about pregnancy, but definately about welcoming a child into one’s life.

Morrisey has a song called Pregnant Again.

Colin Meloy has a song called Weird and Wonderful…its not on any album yet as far as I know. He does it live.

Give a listen to “Mayonnaise” by Lahna Turner

“Baby Baby” by Amy Grant.

Add The Verve Pipe’s FRESHMEN to that also.

Re Kate Bush’s This Woman’s Work… it played during the 7th HEAVEN ep in which Hayley Duff had her baby… I wept like a little bitch with a skinned knee

Y’all are a bunch of whackos (I’m lookin’ at you bienville:)), and I love it.

Due date is mid-Feb.

How about “One’s on the Way” (by Shel Silverstein (as performed by Loretta Lynn)?

“When You Dream” by Barenaked Ladies is sung by a father to his newborn son. It’s a beautiful song.

All That She Wants by Ace of Base

Of course there’s always “With Arms Wide Open”.

One could probably even get Scott Stapp to do “The Jesus” while it’s being played, seeing as he’s got free time on his hands :stuck_out_tongue:

Britney Spears- Someday I’ll Understand.

Yeah, Yeah. I know. I’ll go now.

Also, “Made to Last”, off the same album, is a really sweet song about a newborn.

Maybe not quite the tone you’d be looking for, but there’s Men Just Leave by Glen Phillips. (link to live mp3 [there’s a little talking in the beginning])

Some of the lyrics:
"They were high school sweethearts
From Portland, Maine
He was a writer’s block poet
And though she’d never read a line, she still had faith
They ended up in La Jolla, she sold Mary Kay
He dreamed about getting published
But when her belly got big, he ran away

One and one adds up to be three
Don’t need to have love
Don’t need to be sweet
When the air gets heavy it’s hard to breathe
The women get stuck and the men just leave
Women get stuck and the men just leave"

But, let no one think that Eat for Two is a positive song about pregnancy:

The version with which I am most familiar ends with Natalie gasping for breath with her voice choking into tears. This is probably the reaction I’d have to getting pregnant, were such a thing possible.

I can’t think of any others off the top of my head, cause bienville stole mine.

My favorite is a song that I’ve been able to find no link for on the net - “Whoever you are” by Steve Fox, off his album ‘small world.’

“You’re just a little round bubble, in the middle of my woman,
Some people call you a bun in the oven.
Kicking and rolling around in there,
You must be good and ready for a breath of fresh air.”

Sinead O’Connor: Emporer’s New Clothes.

Oh, also, on the less artistic side (but I love it), there’s “Little Bitty” by Alan Jackson. Nice, fun, sweet song with a subversive touch of existentialism thrown in.
