I’m trying to determine whether the restaurant industry has experienced a uniform increase in popularity over the past 20 years. Where can I see a graph or some statistics showing the amount of money consumers have spent on eating out (adjusted if inflation, if possible) over time?
Just a WAG, but the NRA (National Restaurant Association - http://www.restaurant.org ) would likely have that sort of info. If you want to narrow it down, they also have links to state restaurant associations on the red “Dining Out” tab.
