I’m reading through a book which depicts events and texts taking place at different times, but the main tapestry of older events, although described in linear fashion, is largely without dates.
The following is alleged to have taken place between about 1200 BC and 825 BC:
Tribal Life (the 12 tribes of Israel) after escape from Egyptian bondage and reestablishment in the area at least by 1200 BC; later existing as two main regions, Judah the largest tribe and all the others to the North; Judges as civil and military leaders.
End of reign of Judges, beginning of Reign of Kings: King Saul (appointed by Samuel), followed by David (unification of Judah & the northern tribes), followed by Solomon (who built the First Temple). King Rehoboam / split back into two nations with Jeroboam leading the northern Kingdom of Israel versus Rehoboam of Judah. King Jehoram of Judah circa 825 BC.
Anyone have a good handle on dates for when Samuel appointed Saul King? Timeframe of the reign of David? Solomon? Rehoboam / Jeroboam?
Thanks in advance.
