Neighbor takes down Trump flag. Implications?

That’s the kind of thing I’m seeing in my neck of the woods as well. And I believe the message you’re getting is absolutely accurate.

Admittedly, it would be nice if this were the year in which Trump runs out of bullshit, but unlike your neighbor I remain skeptical.

A well placed punctuation or two with a sharpie can change the entire meaning:
“TRUMP 2020… NO MORE BULLSHIT”

“TRUMP 2020? NO! MORE BULLSHIT"

Maybe the residents changed their mind?
Maybe the flag got damaged by happenstance?
Maybe the flag got damaged/ripped down by a neighbor?
Maybe there is legislation that requires taking down that flag?
Maybe the residents just don’t want to provoke their neighbors?
Maybe the residents are afraid of you, given your demonstrated gutevel negative reactions to any change?
The OP is making a lot of ass-umptions about the situation, with very few facts.

Find out what really happened, and then start making political comments about it.

The OP (i.e., me) had one guess about the reason and asked for alternatives. He got many of them. How about reading the thread instead of just the first post and making your own assumptions about my attitude?

Yes, this neighbor took down the flag because he is CORRECTLY assuming that you are dangerously biased against him.
Your post come near as damn to threatening him, and they quite cross the line of libel calling the person insane.

Why did he take down the flag?
Because you live near him.

Reported for editing parts of two different posts together, without indication, to completely misrepresent what I’ve said.

You have it completely wrong. Those posts are about two completely different houses, which you’d know if you’d read the thread. And since I’ve never spoken with the owners of either, they would have no way to know my views.

And where the fuck do you get off saying I’ve threatened anyone? Talk about libel.

Doing a cut-and-paste on two separate posts without indicating that they came from separate posts was not cool. Using that to launch a personal attack in conjunction with your manipulation of the poster’s words will earn you a Warning.

One can hope they saw the light and were horrified at being associated with him and his ilk

“the pathologies that make them not just conservative or Republican but literal, flag-waving Trump supporters.”

This person is still saying that anyone that supports the current incumbent President of the United States, is clinically insane.
THAT is what that usage of the word means.
How can this be acceptable?
Disagree with someone’s political viewpoint, fine.
State that you have an alternate viewpoint, fine.
But to call almost half of the population medically insane? That is not on!

Here is a video in which Trump supporters are interviewed. It offers much insight into Trumpist cognition.

It isn’t. It’s a goddamn catastrophe.

I mean, this is actually possible. Trumpists watch Fox News and OAN, and those channels are pumping “ANTIFA IS Out To Kill You And Your Family” non stop. For people who believe those channels it can be frightening. The flag guy might actually, truly, think the flag was endangering him because a horde of black people and ANTIFA was coming.

At present, 538 puts his approval rating at 41.1% (-13.5% net). That is quite a ways from “almost half” (probably about a third of that approval comes from people who are nominally indifferent but support “The President” out of reflex, so, realistically, actual Individual-ONE supporters most likely number less than 30%).

A good thing nobody did. You should look up what “pathology” means maybe.

Being made to cringe is not near as damn to threatening anyone or anything. And that line you mentioned? It doesn’t exist.

“pathology” with regards to a person or group’s decision making:

Definition: pathology is the study of the causes, components, course, and consequences of psychological disorders. These are characterized by abnormality and dysfunction.
So, what exactly is your point?
By asking what Pathologies are needed for a person or group to hold a certain opinion, you are in simpler words asking
“what sort of insanity makes them think so”
Claiming that all Trump supporters (which constitute more than 100 million americans) are insane is… insane.

No problem. Just hang a red light over your door so your neighbours know your support of fascism is financial, not ideological. I’m sure they’ll recognize and understand the difference.

Resolved: Trump Derangement Syndrome is a projection by the MAGAcult.

Where did you get the 100 million Trump supporters figure?
