Neighbors burglar alarm has been sounding for a solid week

I don’t want to worry anyone, but the alarm in JHE1967’s apartment has been going off for about a week now… I think someone should go and check on him…

That’s what I’m saying I’m not willing to do. I have access to contact info for the purpose of official communications – this isn’t one.

Posting a story like this and not giving an update CLEARLY violates the “Don’t Be a Jerk” rule.

Mmph.

I’m still waiting for an ending to this story.

Did the OP burst into the place in a haze of two-stroke oil as his chainsaw rumbled in his hands?

Did the apartment dwellers quietly throw out their meth paraphernalia and lurk zombie like into a new day?

I think we ought to imagine a story line here, folks. It has to be off the wall and interesting. It should also be in a different thread to avoid any chance of threadshitting this one (too late).

What do you guys think?

I think it’s pretty clear that whatever entity consumed his neighbors has now consumed him. The alarm was a warning–he should have gotten scared when it turned OFF. That meant the condo was ready to feed again. I’m imagining a whole subdivision of condominiums, silent, with shades drawn, the bills mysteriously being paid each month but no one is ever seen. Even the cops don’t dare to patrol it and it eventually falls off the maps with the occasional lost driver entering the subdivision but never coming back out.

Either that or the OP did something illegal to stop the damn noise and wisely though better of posting it on a public bulletin board. He’ll probaly join later under a new username and never speak of the alarm again (or What he saw inside the condo!).

His last activity was June 17 9:34pm Pacific Time

That’s what it WANTS you to think.

The O-Poster ain’t posted since April.

It lurks.

I know what it’s like to be dead?

I know what it is to be sad.

Well, I’m not the OP, but I can give a similar tale. I’m in a duplex, where the owner of the other side died several years ago, and for whatever reason, nobody has lived there since. Electricity is on, so someone is paying bills, but I could never find any information on the current owner.

About a month ago, after a storm where the street briefly lost power, the smoke alarms on their side malfunctioned and all started going off, which I could hear all too well when trying to sleep. After a couple weeks of me still not being able to figure out who owned the place (including sending a letter to the address, which got returned as “unable to forward”), I was able to contact the city through a message board, someone there contacted me and said that their utility payments were up to date but the listed phone numbers had been disconnected.

They sent a certified letter to the address to be forwarded, but after a couple more weeks, I contacted them again earlier today. After some more digging, they said they were able to find a good phone number, called the owner who said he’d come up in the next day or two to take care of it.

So hopefully a good ending. Now we’ll see if he also does anything about the roof repairs he needs, or the backyard that hasn’t been mowed in several years, etc.

Coming soon to a theater near you: Condo: The Consuming.

when you say that I get a picture of the doctor as cenobite from hellraiser II

Oh, shit! Really sorry guys. I think I just haven’t been in MPSIMS since April so I didn’t see that my thread was bumped. Sorry to keep you all hanging!

After reading all of the suggestions I got in touch with the local TV station and they were most eager to put us on the news that day. Everything was set when…the alarm stopped! Of course with no alarm blaring there was little reason for the story. For the next months I still “heard” the alarm in my head once a day.

The neighbors returned and as far as I know have not acknowledged the incident to anyone. If I see them outside words will be exchanged.

Sorry again for not updating the thread :o

What proof do we have that this isn’t the Condo using JHE1967’s account? It probably ate the WiFi connection at the same time as poor JHE.

I must not watch enough local news, but the idea of a TV news story about an alarm going off for a week seems really strange. What’s the angle on that? That the HOA and police and the alarm company don’t care? Or that Area Man can’t sleep? For the record, I acknowledge that it would be VERY annoying.

For the record, it’s not that the alarm company doesn’t care - without access to the home these is nothing they can do. Contrary to popular belief, most alarms cannot be turned off from the alarm company or monitoring station. When I worked for a monitoring station, the alarm code was not part of the record, only the password to indicate everything was ok.

Quick, JHE - tell us something only you would know!

Glad the damn alarm finally stopped.
