accused of groping and 1 case of rape
Goddammit.
more of this is coming out about professors - 3 guys from Dartmouth were forced out recently for harassment. I suppose people with a PhD and in power positions are not that different from the rest of the world.
Oh, man. Say it ain’t so. This is terrible.
Remember, no heroes. Someone’s public face really tells us absolutely nothing about what kind of people they really are.
Yes. I think I’d be more disturbed and upset if something like this came out about someone I knew closely, where I did think I really knew them.
According to the article, he was first accused of rape in 2014. We’re 4 years on. Was there an investigation by police? If so, what did they find?
Kind of like Ben Rothliesberger. Man, can he throw a football. . . and he rapes as well.
Did you read that cite? I read it a couple years ago, and…well, I did not find it filled with damning evidence. The person who wrote it comes across as extremely disconnected from reality.
The latest accusations come across as much more measured and specific, and therefore much more disturbing and credible.
This.
And even heroes on one aspect of life may not be so in another. Having someone else be the standard you hold yourself against or the model to imitate is an act of faith that risks coming crashing down.
Does that mean he won’t be voicing himself in that upcoming cartoon where he invents a time machine to help Obama go back in time to stop Trump?
Ditto.
While I agree I also believe that heroes are important because their example can push us to doing things we might not otherwise do. We are all human and we all err.
But was there an investigation by the police? Was he arrested, charged, and tried? Or did the investigation show that there was no charge to answer?
I really, REALLY hope this isn’t true. I’m only a few degrees from misanthropy as it is.
If you read the accusers account, she seems to be saying that she fell asleep one night 30 years ago and on waking the next morning decided she’d been drugged and raped. She cites no physical trauma, no side effects, and didn’t report it for 30 years, when she mentions it on her blog. She also comes off as flakey as hell. There’s no indication she’s contact police.
He’s responded to that and the other accusations on Facebook.
I’m gonna stick with “goddammit,” not feeling qualified to make other judgments at this point.
Yep. I don’t know if this is a good or bad “response”.
