i said disgusting because seriously? I love my dog but I would not lick her. But it is not disgusting in the sense that it is a moral outrage or anything. That guy who sneaked into the dog pound and was found after haveing sexual relations with a pit bull is disgusting as well.

For me, NPH will always be the NPH from Harold & Kumar. I’m happy he limited his activity to kissing the beast.
It was planned. I went to the Tony Awards rehearsal the morning of the show and got to see all the performances and jokes ahead of time and yes, that bit was included.
It got a huge laugh from the rehearsal audience, btw.

No exaggeration. I’m pretty much an awards junkie and that was a really incredible performance by NPH with a number that was brisk, funny, and didn’t outlast its welcome. Truly remarkable.

Did they get that opening number perfect in rehearsals, as well? I agree with Shadow Facts and Movie Mogul; that opening was incredible. It was funny and had fun dancing and singing, but the magic trick put it over the top to greatness. I didn’t watch it live, (just on youtube, in fact that’s the only part of the show I watched) I’m sure that was even more amazing when you didn’t know what was coming and even more so in person.

Yup, it looked great in the rehearsal as well! The only thing that was different was in the rehearsal they had confetti cannons shoot streamers out over the audience at the end, I guess they figured that would take too long to clean up in time for the next number so that wasn’t included on the telecast.
My initial reaction? Sadly, it was that homophobes are going to claim they are right about homosexuality leading to bestiality. This place has made me too cynical.
If I’d seen it live, with that big opening first, I probably would have been a better frame of mind, though. That was freaking awesome. And I had no idea NPH was that freaking athletic!
EDIT: Aw, fudge knuckles. SenorBeef got to it first, and even made it funny! That’s what I get for choosing to tell an initial reaction before reading the thread.
