Neopets

Who wants to admit they go there?

I’m waiting for the Wheel of Monotony to stop spinning as I type.

I used to but my pet is probably a skeleton by now. It’s been at least a year.
I still wonder if anybody ever made any money in the stock market. And my store! Is the crap I had in there still in there? Damn! Now I wanna check and I don’t remember my account name or password or anything.

Gah, I only played that once.

I enjoy confusing the tweenies at the trading post.

I’ll have a wishlist like: Your offer should make me OMG … not LOL.

Or, “Free gruntles for every disgruntled Neopian!!!”

I always get neomails asking me to explain my stuff.

I haven’t been in a looooooooong time…

Hmm I should go check on them.

I’ve got almost 2 million neopoints in the bank.

I used to, until my account was hacked. I was pissed, too - I had a huge bookstore going on. Books were easily the best things to sell while I was on - profit was coming in hand over fist.

Used to, but it got too monotonous for me (and that was before the blasted wheels started coming out). It may be a site with millions of users, but there isn’t much to do that requires much interaction with them, and the few things that do ask you to talk to other users aren’t any fun if you’re above the age of, say, 13. Everyday is the same–Log in, do the rounds at the omlette/jelly/tombola/etc., update the store, check the news, play a couple games if I’m really bored, spend 5 minutes in the forums before being scared out for another day, and then maybe, just maybe, feed my pets. At one point I even gave a friend access to my account so she could loot it, then I took it back over and got bored once more.

The only thing with my account that I’m proud of is having four pets, because now the limit is three.

I used to make some money in the stock market, beofre they changed it–I could buy at 4 neopoints a share, and since that was the lowest any stocks ever went I knew I couldn’t lose any money. I usually sold in a day or two, as soon as it went up any.

I used to have a bunch of files but then I got really bored. I go back on every new and then but there really isn’t much of an appeal anymore.

I used to a few years ago, but got bored.

My daughter and her friends LOVE Neopets. Elysian how in the world did you get so many neopoints? My kids would probably clean your house for that bank:) THey are constantly playing games to get points but it seems to come in dribs and drabs and the food is pretty damned expensive, then they will get NeoFlu or NeoSars or NeoAids or whatever is the latest thing the site comes up with.

I just made one. Five minutes later, I’m already bored. Looks like little Elenia is going to die, quick.

I haven’t been there since I found the Straight Dope.

I’m going to go check on my pets, just for the hell of it…

When things went south between me and my ex, I started playing Neopets to take my mind off of things. In retrospect, I should have started smoking crack, as crack is slightly less addictive than Neopets.

I have four pets: A Desert Kyrii, a Brown Ixi, a White Kougra, and a Blue Cybunny. I got all the neat stuff back when I was in college, though; I’m now as poor a Neopian as they come. I’ve lost interest, and I don’t really like some of the things they’ve done with the site. Paintbrushes, for instance, are way more expensive now, and there’re way too many limited pets (I’d love a Draik, for instance, but spending the time to get Og knows how many neopoints is just not worth it).

They don’t die, they’re like real kids–if you don’t feed them they raid your fridge, leave a mess in the living room and then complain that you never play with them.

And I can’t believe I’m handing out advice about Neopets, but Mike, pass this tip on to your daughter–Neolodge. The cheapest hotel will run you around 150np a month per pet. It’ll keep your pets fed for about the price of food for one day. There’s also the omelette and the Giant Jelly–between them they can keep a set of four pets completely fed each day, and they’d free. I prefer the neolodge myself–I’m lazy.

Too late for the lodge I think, a good friend gave my daughters’ friend ~75K points and she ran out and bought a house in Faerie land  This is the same girl who proudly showed me all the food she had bought while her pets were all Dying:eek: She is like a child of the Depression, she likes to buy the food and medicine and hoard it:)

I’ll tell my daughter Claire about the lodge though, it might help.

Also, it’s not necessary to spend money on medicine; if one of your pets gets sick just keep bugging the Healing Faerie in Faerieland every half hour or so and she’ll eventually cure it.

I have a Yurble that gets zapped with the Lab Ray every day, so he’ll eventually change into something else (he’s already had about 8 sex changes), a Disco Fever Grundo, a Blue Aisha, and a Red Blumaroo. I have lots of downtime at work and once I’ve browsed through all the forums here there’s not much else to do.

My kids and I visit the site to play the games…Ice Cream Attack, Hassee Bounce and Freaky Factory are the ones I’ve gotten addicted to…but I refuse to create an actual account for fear of spam.

I used to go there. I played enough to get paintbrushes and petpets for my Lupe and Kougra. I’ve got a purple draik which wasn’t cheap either. Had to buy the morphing potion to get it.

I don’t go back very often though. It is very repetitive and the neopoints you can get from games are much lower than they were. I can’t imagine how much time you would have to spend to get anything.

I will be watching this thread with interest. I had just (like, last week), promised my 13-year-old daughter to find out what dopers have neopets. She’s addicted to the damned things; has, I think, four pets. Has petpets for her pets. Buys them houses and furniture and crap. Worries about what to give them for Christmas.

I go and play games to win her points (Spell Or Starve; Destructo-Match; Korbatt’s Lab; Kiko Match; Tyrannian Mini Golf).
