I realize I’m joining this discussion way too late, but I was really glad when nested quotes came back, and bummed that they’re gone. Too often, in debate threads, I’m replying to someone who’s replying in turn to someone else (maybe even me) - but his post makes no sense without the nested quote, so neither does my reply.
I never had any problem with editing out parts of nested quotes back when they were ‘the way things had always been.’
But I was reminded today of one additional problem with the removal of nested quotes: when you hit Reply, vBulletin doesn’t even put a line break between statements on either side of the now-absent quote. So you get stuff like this:

It was impossible to tell, in the Reply box, that his comment to Dinsdale hadn’t been addressed to me. It was part of the same paragraph, after all.
