Netflix friends.

Okay, I’ve tried twice now to get this rolling. Once long ago in a topic where I didn’t KNOW about this feature and tried doing it the long way and once a few months ago as a comment in another topic about Netflix.

In both cases, I garnered a few friends, but in both cases, I don’t think many people saw the replies or topic. And even if people did see the first topic about it, again, I was proposing people actually emailing out invites…and who wants to do that? That takes too long! I think most people are naturally lazy a bit and prefer simplier ways to do things. The less clicks, the better.

So I was finally made aware of this simple link, which is found when you click the Invite Friends link when in the Community tab.

Netflix

Just click that and click accept. Easy as pie. I don’t mind friends and I’m actually looking for some people from here who also have Netflix because I’m always looking for good recommendations and reviews. So anyone who wants to can feel free to add me. I also hope this topic spawns off a few more people posting their links so they can get a few people on their friend’s list.
It’s really kinda cool because if you usually rate movies, you’ll see how well you match up with other people on your list in regards to movies with a percentage. You’ll also be able to see their ratings on movies, reviews they give, leave notes for them all or one specific person and even see what they have in their queue and at home (although if you don’t like others seeing this, you can always go to preferences and make it so they can’t see your queue).
So yeah, here’s hoping third time is a charm and I actually get some more friends on that list and that others get into the act with their own direct links to friends lists.

Whoa. We’re a 39% match – I look forward to checking it out.

Here’s my link: Netflix

If you join my friends list and your nickname isn’t the same as your username here, post or PM so I know who you are.

39 percent? Doesn’t sound like we watch much of the same movies then. :stuck_out_tongue:

We’re at 57% similarity. Not bad.

The ones we’ve both seen, in general you give one more star to than I do.

Maybe you just have more gusto than I do?

We have a 55% match, so we’ll see. I suck at doing “let’s make new friends online” activities, so please excuse me if I disappoint you

51% I’ll be cancelling Netflix in a couple of days, though… time to save some money!

I wouldn’t doubt that was it, twickster. I do tend to enjoy movies more than the average person. It would really have to be pure and total crap for me to give it one star.

I’ve only seen three movies to date that I hated that much: A.I., Lady in the Water, and Moulin Rouge.

Thanks for the adds, Zoggie, Zipper, and Lionne!

I think I have room enough for three more…(and four when Lionne quits).

The thing with Netflix friends is, sure I want to get recommendations, but how seriously will you take mine when Drumline shows up in my queue - Hey it can’t all be Truffaut.

Hahaha. You should see my queue. I’m sure I have a lot of ones most wouldn’t be caught dead with in public.

No need to worry.

It’s not in my queue … because I’ve already seen it.

Just added Twickster and Idle Thoughts to my friends list, both of whom are at 58% matches with me.

Anyone who wants to add me, here’s the link:

Netflix

Done! You and I are 79% similar!

Here’s my invite link:

I already added **Idle ** 61% & twickster (only 30%) and then spent two hours rating movies. Does anyone know any tricks for imporating IMDB ratings to Netflix. I suspect I have another 8-10 hours of manually doing it.
Here is my invite if anyone wants: Netflix

Jim

Wow! 79 percent. That’s the biggest percentage I’ve ever seen so far between anyone.
I have someone (not from the SDMB) on my friends list who is a 68 percent match with me. He’s the highest. I often wonder if someone will ever dethrone him, though.

I think I’ve rated about 200 movies.

I also think (but am not sure) that I may have reached my limit on friends. Used to be you could only have fifty and that’s how many I do now, however they’ve upgraded a lot and added new features so they may have upped the number.

I spend more time on the community page than I do browsing movies. :stuck_out_tongue:

I just don’t see how anyone could hate Moulin Rouge. I argue with Euthanasiast about it all the time.

I added all of you but Idle Thoughts, since your friends list is full. I’m at 62% compatibility with What Exit?, 60% with Miller, 59% with twickster and MsWhatsit.

85% simpatico. I knew there was something about you I liked.

EIGHTY FIVE? Man…

Oh and I think I may clear some friends off my list that I never talk to anymore (or who don’t really use Netflix that much) to make way for more people in this topic.

Let me get in on this…
