I’d prefer not to have to look up and determine in context if this is supposed to be an insult, along with the other terms being used. That, combined with the mocking condescension is too much. Dial it back. Engage the argument, not the poster, please.

That was me. Normally I compose a post and then click the “close this thread after your post” or something like that so it happens simultaneously but with posts going quickly I preemptively locked it then composed my multiple responses. Plus I was using my phone so it’s harder to do things as quickly like having multiple tabs and hitting enter on them all in quick succession.

You’re right, those things are not in the same ballpark. They break different rules. The thing is, the rule about insults does NOT say:

Don’t insult other posters unless that poster has done something really, really awful.

Which is why I haven’t posted a thread objecting to the warning, or one begging for it to be rescinded. I *have *PMed the mod with some clarification on some stuff mentioned in the note and the warning, but I’m not saying mocking isn’t a form of insult or anything. I’m just taking issue with BigT’s “both sides” bullshit (both here and in the Pit thread, where I’ve been more…forthcoming).
