Odd things are afoot at Netflix. A few days ago, recommendations and ratings went down. Then ratings returned. And suddenly–poof!–most of my recommendations have vanished. If I recall, I had between one and two thousand recommendations before. Now I have less than two hundred, with very few indeed in some of my favorite genres. (Foreign, TV).
What the heck is up? Anyone know?
ETA: There’s some information here , relating to the change in the homepage, and with several folks in the comments having the same recommendations issues. No explanation for what’s going on with ratings/recommends, though.
I wonder if it has anything to do with Monday’s site crash?
The site had an unscheduled outage of 11 hours on Monday. Today’s San Jose Mercury News said they were still working to get the site fully functional again. I think they said they were still working on restoring the recommendations stuff.
I got an email from them this morning apologizing and saying they were going to give me a 10% credit (for what, I’m not sure – this month’s fee?) for the inconvenience.
Yes, I think the credit back is for the current month.
Woo hoo! If I find a dime somewhere, I can go buy something off the Dollar Menu!
I’m only getting a 5% credit. I wonder if that’s because I only have the two at a time plan?
