We are watching this 13-episode series on Netflix with sub-titles. A gang is robbing the Spanish Mint, but the nature of the robbery and the interactions between the robbers, the hostages and the police are complex and never what they seem initially.
The translation is hilarious at times - i can’t cite examples off the top of my head, but “all your base belong to us” would not seem out of place But within the context of this fast-moving caper-soap-opera, they don’t bother me and kinda enhance the experience.
Also, I have no clue on current Spanish culture, but watching this show seems like a great parade of Types. The crap the women have to put up with from men; the machismo and sense of honor that must be addressed; the hot-blooded sensuality that seems ready to burst, and does at times. It is a somewhat different lens that we see in the U.S., so watching a fun, tangled, intense-but-silly caper show with this added cultural twist fun.
Anyone else watching?
