Netscape's Site Central (What's wrong with Netscape, Part II)

I used Netscape’s Site Central
http://home.netscape.com/sitecentral/index.html?cp=dev01stcl
to make my web pages. Of all the free web site services, it seemed to have the least obtrusive banners.

But the server is awfully slow and unreliable. The pages load very slowly. The loading time is so bad that often people tell me they couldn’t connect to my site because it timed out.

The other problems with it are that sometimes it won’t let you upload files, and other times you can’t even connect to it at all. I’ve buit up 56 pages on the site, but I would like to take them all and move them to a better server. Without having to buy and install my own server. I’m trying to think of where would be a better host to put up my pages.

Of free web hosts.

This one, for example.

But if you have an always on internet connection, you might just want to run your site off your own machine.

Thanks, Kybe. I guess a DSL connection is something to consider getting. I will have to make a careful survey of the site hosts in the link you gave and see what works best. I may choose Yahoo!/GeoCities mainly because they have made their banner removable.
