Never get out of the boat

Or the car.
Guy tries to protect his buddy, gets beat to death for his trouble.

Could only happen in Texas.

You’re right about that. No one in the history of the world has ever been beaten to death by an angry mob outside of Texas. Not once.

I thought about pitting this but ultimately decided against it. I did find it slightly interesting that in all the early news reports coming out it described it as a “black crowd”, but in all the subsequent news reports it doesn’t mention the race of the attackers.

That whooshing sound you’re hearing is because Juneteenth is a celebration only in Texas. Hard to have a angry mob of Juneteenth celebrants if your state has no such celebration.

Not true. Juneteenth is officially recongized in 14 states. There was a guy who got beat up in Milwaukee, too. Link

Learn something every day. I have no idea how it made its way to Wisconsin, it was originally the day that the news of the Emancipation Proclamation reached Texas (some 2 years after the fact). I stand corrected.

So I guess it can happen other places than Texas.

Shoot, my school (OK, many of the black students) celebrated Juneteenth and this was in New Jersey in the 80s.

Yes, it was pointed out to me previously in the thread that I was mistaken about it still being a Texas only celebration. I hadn’t realized that.

At least I took the wind out of the sails of the posters who usually turn up in any threads about something that happens in Texas and claim it’s because it’s Texas that the thing happened.

Screw that. If you don’t get out of the boat nothing will ever happen.
Ever.
