New 24 season?

Does anyone know if and when?

If they’re planning on doing what they did last season–all 24 episodes in consecutive weeks with no pre-emptions for sports, etc.–than I’m betting it’ll probably be in January.

That’s what the Fox website says, but no specific date.

I’m starting to hanker…

I’d heard that not only will there be a new season, David Fury (one of the writers of Lost) is going to have a hand in writing it. With both Lost and 24 being some of the best TV that’s to be had, I expect the next season of 24 to continue 24’s tradition of being pretty darn good. Without spoiling the end of season 4, I’ll say that I can’t help but wonder just HOW they’re going to do season 5, but I’ve got faith.

David Fury was also a writer for Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Dont Remind me of 24 of late. I got the Box Set for Season one. I long for “Events occur in real time” again.

I just finished watching Seasons one and am 8 hours into Season 2(after seeing the last 3 episodes of Season 4).

I’m waiting for january to roll around, and hoping it’s not “Jack Baur takes a Day off”(where everyone else is working on a terrorist threat, at 3 AM jack is asleep. At 6, he gets up to use the toliet. At 9 he’s watching the news in his undies…)

Sorry, it’s gonna be Saturday and Jack sits around in his pajamas and scratches himself.

I’m also looking forward to gratuitous violence and screaming at people. And Jack might be back in fighting shape as well.

I’ve only seen 1 and 2/5’s seasons of 24.

At least in season 1 and 2, in the first episode, Jack always shoots someone unexpectadly in the very first episode(Mason, Mr. Headless-Pedofile). Does this trend continue into the 3rd and 4th seasons?

And if so, it will continue into season 5?

Since I’m working my way through Season 2 via Netflix, I’m not suffering from Jack withdrawals, and it’s nice to see plenty of my favorite pyshcopath. I really do like the show, despite some slow spots and the incredibly stupid amnesia subplot in season 1(Thank God they ended that after 3 episodes).

Jack wanders the earth like Caine(or the incredible Hulk)…for 24 hours.

I heard that Manny Coto will be writing for 24 next season, too. That also sounds promising to me. Season 4 started out on a good footing, but later on they felt like they were really stretching.

Episodes also didn’t seem to end with that same adrenaline rush you’d get from a season 2 episode, for instance. The plot points of the season 4 episodes seemed to “wrap up” at the end of an hour, and it didn’t leave me dying for more, like the early seasons did. I’d love to see them get back to the style that had me, for example, leaping out of my seat at the end of episode 8, season 2:

That was the one with Jack on the small plane, and there was a tense and quiet scene where he was talking to Nina, telling her just what she took away from him. Then, as he goes back to his seat, a missile hits the plane, a few seconds of confusion, then the clock…
