Dunno about curry chips, but the chicken tenders were good ‘n’ spicy.
There’s a lot across the street from the Old Town School of Folk Music (www.oldtownschool.org). Also, parking on side streets generally isn’t too bad.
Are any suburbanites planning on taking Metra/the El on Saturday? I’m seriously considering it so that I can drink without worry, but I don’t want to travel alone. I can take the Metra back home alone, but I don’t want to go back to Union Station by myself. (If that makes me a chicken, then GUILTY! ;))
DrMatrix and I are gonna try to be there.
OK, I have just e-mailed out confirmation numbers to everyone that I had on my reservation list. If you do not have an e-mail from me and need a room, please, send me an e-mail so I can get you on the list and into the hotel, OK?
Also, if you are driving in, or flying and renting a car, please let me know as I will arrange for parking passes.
The countdown is on. Really looking forward to seeing everyone Friday!!!
I am getting ready to drink lots of vodka!!!
I only have a second, but I wanted any fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer to know that James Marsters and his band, Ghost of the Robot is playing at the Pickwick Theater in Park Ridge on May 10th at 7:30 p.m. There is some other Buffy stuff going on too.
I’m off to try and get my tolerance up for Saturday, if I can still make it.
Who is James Marsters?
He plays “Spike” on Buffy The Vampire Groopie.
The 7:30 concert is only for losers
like me, who were willing to shell out $130 for the complete “Buffy weekend” package.
But GotR is doing another show at 10pm the same night.
monster, I will probably be taking the el (blue line) in.
Well, it’s the Monday before ChiDope and I’m pretty geeked for this thing. It’s supposed to rain here all week, I hope that means great weekend weather in Chicago (although the correlation is more than a bit iffy).
Actually, the weather outlook isn’t too bad. Possible showers on Friday but the weekend looks reasonably warm and clear.
And Gundy is looking reasonably warm and clear also.
Buddy, I’m so warm and clear you’d hardly recognize me.
Bring your vomit bags and sawdust, I’ll be in the hizzouse!
What shall be the Feats Of Strength, Gluttony, and Endurance?
I propose, in conjunction with the Mythical Ten, the Legendary 30! I can eat an entire crave case of White Castle in an hour. Top that.
Whoa.
I can drink almost two full beers without passing out. Top that!
That’s two full beers over the course of the entire weekend, right, Tibby? And you can smell a shot of Stroh rum, too.
blush Okay, busted.
But I’ve been working steadily on my tolerance level and I think I might be able to drink 4 beers in one single night. My first dopefest was truly a source of motivation for me.
In order to assist you, the public, in organizing your time this weekend around the events you’d most like to see at Chidope, I’ve put together a starter list of the items that are high up on my personal hit parade.
Feats of Gluttony:
Demo attempts The Mythical Ten, an endeavour previously attempted by DynoSaur, and failed SO MISERABLY that it has henceforth been referred to only in such diminuitive terms such as: The Rumor-Mongering Five, or The Coma-Inducing Pentad.
I, Mr. Cynical shall, if prodded enough, attempt my own Feat Of Gluttony: The Legendary 30 - an entire Crave Case from White Castle in an hour.
Feats of Strength:
The Ritualistic Tossing Of Mnementh In The Nearest Body Of Water
Acts of Perversion:
Someone’s Boobies Get Shown Or Touched. This does not count in private. This is a favorite at Dopefests the world over.
Add your own!
Sweet fancy Moses. Combine this with beer and you have the most powerful colon propellant known to man.
I fear you for even considering this.
