No announcement yet but you better believe as soon as I have news to share I will.
The last I heard they were still involved in the paperwork and budgeting end of things and starting to get cranked up. I will let you know of progress.
The current state of events around the country and around the world are probably not helping the situation any either, what with people being shunted to work at home and etc.
While I know you are eager to get to the next thing and discuss it a bunch, I would encourage you not to overly speculate because that way lies unhappiness and disappointment. We hope you will like what is coming and will enjoy better days. That can’t come soon enough for me.

I’m hearing there was an announcement, by Tuba. Previous poster to me, I don’t know where you’re getting your information from, but I’m hearing there was an announcement.
I dont think it will help anything… The problem is with the computer this site is on most likely… Putting more bulky SW here will only make it worse…
I hope they can figure out whats going on so we dont lose this beautiful VBB software… (Its my favourite)

Dude111, we like the look and feel here, too. When we get the new software, we’re going to set it up to be as much like what we have as we can. But yes, we do in fact know that the problem is the software. vBulletin simply can’t handle a board of this size. Putting more bulky software here wouldn’t help… which is why we’re moving away from vB. vB is extremely bulky, far more than it ought to be.
I think he means the one at the top of ATMB. The thread that says that vB ver 3 is no longer supported, and they are working on replacing it but it will take time.

Since we are taking unsolicited advice, I propose the word “shield” that comes written on the 504 error page be replaced with the Captain America shield, or some other super cool shield.

There might be something to this apocalypse thing I heard about.
The BB troubles have turned a visit to the Dope into something like playing the slot machines in Las Vegas.
You click into a thread and you wait. The wheels go around and around. You wait some more. Will you be a winner this time and see the thread you chose actually pop up on your screen? Or will you get the dreaded *Wah-wah-wah *sad trombone of 502/504? Damn!! Maybe next time-- hope springs eternal, after all.
You click again on a thread and it’s magic! The chosen thread appears! Oh joy, oh rapture! On a roll!
Now feeling cocky, you click another – It appears, too! Maybe the losing streak is over! Baby needs a new pair of shoes!
Then you post a reply and hit send. Nothing. You wait… while you’re waiting, you’ve learned the hard way to quickly position your cursor in the box, hit “select all” (control-A), and then “copy” (control-C), just in case… yup-- 502/504. Damn!!
Maybe next time…
I just got out of Vegas and all the slot machines are being shut down. Not the best comparison right now.

Yep, having 504 errors over and over again yesterday and today too.
Are the increasing timeouts solely due to our falling-apart-at-the-seams ssoftware, or are more people [DEL]killing time[/Del] multitasking while working at home and trying to access the Board.
I’ve gotten perhaps twenty 504 errors today.
If my math is correct, that’s like more than ten thousand individual errors.
I’ve noticed that frequently when the board hangs, the status bar is stuck on “Transferring data from ping.chartbeat.net.” While I doubt this is a major factor in the board’s performance — according to a search it’s been active for many years — I can’t help wondering if it might be making things even worse. And whether something can be done to eliminate (or at least ameliorate) it in the new version.
