Where the hell did they find an authentic Party Seven for last night’s episode of Life on Mars? Must have been borrowed from a museum (maybe that’s why they never actually opened it.
I think that Ford Cortina they are using is a cut-and-shut, because it has a GXL badge on one end and a 2000E badge on the other. As I’m sure we all know, the 2000E was a different model.
A blast from the past for me was the two-way radio in the police car right at the start of the episode. This was the Pye Westminster and I remember them being fitted in our vans and cars when I joined the Gas Board in 1981, although at that time they were being replaced by newer models. They were affectionately called wezzies.
There have got to be a whole lot of still-unopened Party Sevens out there. (I mean, once you’ve opened one of the damn things, you learn from your mistake, don’t you?)
As for Hyperdrive, it’s a bit of a curate’s egg at the moment; it might gell into something good, or it might not. (I think Kevin Eldon is a strike against it; I’ve never seen that man play anything but one-dimensional one-note characters, so casting him as one of the leads looks like a bad move.) But I’ll give it a chance. I liked bits of it, certainly.
