Who is that goateed , bespectacled ‘expert’ who is pushing the colon-cleansing crap on cable TV? I turned on the tube one Sunday to find this guy being “interviewed” by a curious announcer, who kept asking questions like “is it true that most of the population would benefit from a clean colon?”, and “gosh, 20-20 pounds of impacted fecal matter?”
These “interviews’ seem to follow the Kevin Trudeau manner, where a credulous “interviewer” asks questions which are pre-prepared from the book that is being hawked.
Anyway, since the (legally required) disclaimer flashed on the bottom of the screen “these claims have not been evaluated by the FDA, this product is not intended to diagnose or treat any disease”, who in his right mind would fall for this?
Has this guy done time in prison, or is he just new to the quack medicine business?
Using the broadcast media to promote a clean colon? If he’d add goat glands to the menu it would sound like a grandson of Dr. J. R. Brinkley!
20-30 lbs of fecal matter?
I’ve seen that infomercial thing often for a long time now, at least a couple years. It comes on after the Peter Popoff(sp?) one where he sells his miracle Jesus healing water from his ministry that will cure paraplegics and zits.
What a-holes.
I’ve never watched more than half a nanosecond of that commercial so I don’t really know anything of it’s content, but the title of the “program” is “Is Colon Detox Hype?” according to the program guide on our cable system. My reaction was “It takes half an hour to say YES?”
I can’t imagine that I could even be convinced to buy water after crossing the Sahara from a guy who looks like an oily used car salesman. I bet that if you were to look up the word “disreputable” in Webster’s, you’d see his picture!
Klee Irwin, maybe? Guy reminds me of John Waters.
