Ah, sweet sweet speed. In remembrance of the anniversary of my birth, my parents have contributed the lion’s share of the money necessary to purchase a spiffing new PC, to replace my still-useful, but temperamental-since-the-accident older PC.
It runs City of Heroes with the detail cranked - and runs it smooth as silk, so far. It has a DVD Burner, at last. And an optical mouse! With that piece of hardware, I’ll finally be able to transcend my Minesweeper limitations.
I’m positively giddy.
We need details here - type of processor, what video card do you have kicking in that thing, and so on. Still, Congrats!

Yeah. Athlon 64 3500+ Processor, 939 pin. GeForce 6600 GT w/ 128MB onboard. One Gig of PC3200 DDR400 CL2 Low Latency Enhanced Memory w/ Heat Spreader.
I think. Based on going to the same website I got it from, and looking at the same baseline I started from - they may have changed some of their defaults. Processor and Memory should be exactly right, and I think the video card’s the same.
Congrats! I would recommend a trackball, but I’m odd like that.

The memory is the weak link, but I can always add more. It’s as much as or more than I had before - can’t remember if I was running on a Gig, or a half-Gig. And now the Video Card has more onboard.
Sounds like a fine machine there - I doubt the 1 gig RAM will be a limitation - I game quite a bit, and haven’t gone over a gig of memory, except a couple times when I had a bunch of bittorrents running at the same time. Makes me and my Athlon 64 2800+/GeforceFX 5900 box feel jealous, until I remember that my CPU overclocks to 2.3ghz, and I have a Radeon x800XL coming in the mail next week. 
Hmm. My SO’s got an optical mouse and he says almost the same thing. Are you channeling him? :dubious:
Random: I play City of Heroes, which is Gamera’s game. I find that ludicrious amounts of ram really helps MMORPGs . I zone faster, lag less, can hunt Hami at full graphics settings.
With the Dope open, WinAmp running, and a telnet window, too.
Dunno, could be. The only things worse than a trackball are laptop “fingerpad” style mouses, and the laptop “nipple” style mouses.
On the contrary. I really love my trackball. I’ve got a really nice one…and I switch, because at work I have a very plain, unassuming mouse.
However I agree with you that the other two things you mentioned are Satan’s creations.
