Something like CompuFixers or the like would work better. Yes, you’re not going to be doing anything for the guy who comes in with a hardware problem, but better you’re turning people away than people aren’t coming in, I think.
I don’t see why it can’t be both. “Virus Busters: Speedy Computer Virus Removal Experts”. Get the point of the business across and have a name to call the place without a five word mouthful. Just make sure both are featured prominently in your ads or signage.
The problem with getting too specific with virus removal in the name is that you limit the audience to people who know they have a virus and need virus removal, yet can’t do it themselves. If they have the skill to determine it’s a virus and not some other problem, then likely they have the skill to clean it up.
It’s like if you had an auto repair shop called ‘Water Pump Replacement’. It would only serve that subset of people who could do the problem determination to figure out their problem is from the water pump but not want to change it themselves. However, most people can’t do the problem determination. They just know the car doesn’t work.
Most lay people just know their computer is not working right or working slowly. They don’t know why or how to figure out the problem. Maybe it’s slow because some legitimate process is using 100% of the CPU or because the apps are using all the memory and causing the disk to swap. There’s lots of reasons for problems other than a virus.
When Grandma’s computer isn’t working, she hasn’t a clue what the problem could be. She would be more likely to go to “The Computer Fixit Guy” than “Computer Virus Removal” because she doesn’t know what a computer virus is, much less if her computer actually has a virus.
I started searching google and many of these names are already taken. I’m not sure of the law but “Prompt PC” was a name I thought of but it seems to be a european company.
