I enjoyed it a lot. The lead female character is very interesting. The family dynamics make her job in Internal Affairs a major problem. I hope the next episodes are just as good.
The plot setup is very much like the first season of In Plain Sight. The main character (Abby) is an ambitious, career driven female that is very good at her job. She’s a total failure at home dealing with her family members. She has issues keeping a boyfriend or committing to a relationship. Basically her personal life is a mess.
I was a big fan of In Plain Sight before they screwed it up and dropped cast members. This new show has me just as excited. I love this new female character. It’s still early to see how the family relationships develop. Right now they are pretty strained.
Abby already made one big mistake. She tried asking her brother about a cop she was investigating. He got very upset because he didn’t want to be a snitch. Lesson learned. She works for Internal Affairs. She can’t ask her three cop brothers to rat out fellow cops.
The police stories will need more work. There wasn’t much going on in the pilot. They were so busy establishing her family characters. I think that will change as the episodes progress.
The imdb only shows six episodes filmed. I guess this show has to prove itself before they do any more.
First I have heard of it - but once again, like Blue Bloods, an entire family full of cops?
Isn’t this premise getting a bit old? I am sure there are isolated cases in history, but how often do 95% of living family members in a large family all belong to the same police force?
I guess I haven’t seen the early episodes of In Plain Sight; even though I thought I had. What characters were dropped other than Mary Shannon’s baseball player boyfriend?
I didn’t watch because the promos turned me off so much. She’s a grown woman who is obviously good at her job. She needs to tell her father to go fuck himself-- maybe not in so many words but, bake him a cake? WTF?
I heard they dropped the mom played by Lesley Ann Warren. I stopped watching after S2. I recall reading the show’s creator/producer left and they were changing the focus of the show. I loved the original writing too much and saw little point in watching anymore.
I don’t think it’s a stretch. I personally know at least three families in which the father and all his sons ( and in one case, a son’s wife) were NYPD. Don’t know about the grandfathers. It’s pretty common in lots of working -class jobs in NYC including FDNY.
