The official logline states, “For the last 35 years, Darkwing Duck has been trapped in his worst nightmare: an alternate world that’s never heard of his superhero exploits. Now a rebellious teen named Duckie who knows all about his heroic past shows up to pull this ego-fueled vigilante back into battle. Together, this unlikely duo will get dangerous to fight old enemies like Negaduck and Megavolt and reunite with allies Launchpad, Gosalyn and Morgana to save the entire universe.”
I’m on board. Darkwing Duck was my favorite series as a child.
Well, it’s been a while, and while voice actors have more longevity in their jobs than face actors, some have doubtless died, and others show their age in their voices.
Interesting arc for Hamill to go from the Joker to (basically) Batman.
People in the Facebook thread I found this in are disappointed that Disney is dissing Jim Cummings by not allowing him to reprise the titular role. As I understand it, he was interested.
Coupled with the fact that The Rock was named a Disney legend before Cummings was, a lot of old-school Disney fans are upset. Cummings has even voiced Winnie the Pooh!
IIRC, wasn’t DW a fictional character in the universe of the Ducktales reboot, and the character was an actor playing him on TV who became convinced he was him? Makes sense to recast the role if it’s literally a different character in a different universe.
As for Jim Cummings, he’s apparently had some problems in recent years of the “credibly accused of domestic violence” variety.
