Oh, yeah- the episodes were great and I’ve watched Day of the Moon twice already. I have no idea what’s going on, but I like it, and can’t wait to find out.
…yeah, but discussion of the episode will take place after the UK broadcast, so US viewers might want to stay out of the thread until they’ve had a chance to see it.
I expected some aging after 200 years. The first four Doctors were middle aged or even older men. Time Lords obviously age slowly, but 200 years is three human life spans. That’s significant even for a time lord.
They could have done a little makeup on the future Doctor. Maybe a few strands of grey in the hair. It Doesn’t add up that he didn’t look a day older.
Only Moffat could turn a space suit into a creepy, scary character. I never thought of them that way before.
Why? There’s no reason to believe that 200 years would show any real affect on a Time Lord.

There has been at least 2 occasions where The Doctor has been aged, and it certainly has shown.
One where he got super-aged by The Master, which sure isn’t the same as aging naturally. What was the other?

She could be Donna’s daughter. She looked into the heart of the Tardis.
That would be kind of cool.
Here’s a question - do we have any indication from the episode, either way, what time period the girl was in? I seem to recall it said “six months later” (presumably to hint at Amy) - but six months later from the present, or from the Moon Landing?
-Joe
It’s context. A space suit in space - normal. A space suit on Earth, moving as if it were in space - damn creepy.
imdb lists the episode names for this season. At least one seems a bit spoilerage.
Ep 7 A Good Man Goes to War I bet Rory the Roman has to save Amy one last time. Perhaps against an evil River Song? It’s no accident that Rory saw her kill the silents. Proving she has dangerous gun skills.
If they kill off Rory, I’m not sure I could stand to watch any more. Doctor Who should be fun and light. not depressing
Now that Mr Moffat is at the helm, will this season (both halves) skip the obligatory Dalek episode/story of the past five seasons?
I haven’t heard that there are any Dalek appearances. There are Cybermen, though, and possibly a Sontaran, but I don’t know what their context is.
He was at the helm last year as well and there was still a Dalek episode.
I don’t think anyone objects to the existence of Dalek episodes, rather to the clockwork-like regularity with which they appear, whether there’s a script that warrants it or not.
Some people here didn’t like Victory of the Daleks last year, but I thought it was a real highlight. Skipping it this year is a good idea, though.
Yeah, a lack of daleks this season will be welcome. It was pretty much a necessity to have an episode with them and 11, if just to establish their interaction, but it seemed like every season during 9 and 10’s tenure they killed off every dalek - only to have them return next season just as numerous.
Victory established there are a few “pure” daleks that are going to go and rebuild the empire - hopefully Moffat gives them some time to do so, which would make it feel a lot more threatening when they do return.
I really hated Victory of the Daleks. I got excited by the promos for the episode but had problems with the complete lack of logic of any of the goings on and with the ludicrously sentimental and bathetic “Professor Bomberman” story. IMHO, YMMV
I do believe that Daleks (much though I love them) are way overutilized in the more recent seasons. I’d love to go a couple of years without seeing one again.
Was just rewatching the second episode - and when she’s going back into her cell River tells The Doctor that he’ll “Know why soon” as to why she feels obligated to do her time.
Poor Rory.
-Joe
No!!! That’s not true!!
They’ve killed off Rory twice already, the second time removing completely from history so that he never even existed. If they kill him off again, it’ll be more tiresome than wiping out the Daleks. I think they’ll do something else.
