A thought just occurred to me…
How did Amy & Rory manage to copulate in the TARDIS if their bedroom has bunkbeds in it? I guess it’s possible, but as they both seemed to imply at the end of “the Doctor’s Wife”, it certainly must have been difficult…

I think anyone who has ever lived in a college dorm can tell you that it’s quite possible.
Don Draper - a bed is not required for that activity.
Now I’m having timeline problems.
So, Amy and Rory consummate the wedding and Amy gets pregnant. Doctor drops them off soon after, and they don’t see him for months. Amy tells the Doctor she’s pregnant. Okay, by more than a month in there are generally, you know, these signs. And by three or four months pregnancy’s pretty obvious. How long did the Doctor leave them for?
And still, when does River find out she’s Amy and Rory’s kid? And does she remember being the little girl in the spacesuit?
And it’s true- a bed isn’t necessary and even bunk beds can work if you’re determined.
Yes, but there are no signs in the ganger-Amy except for the occasional bit of sickness when reality bleeds through.
Presumably she was kidnapped before signs started.
Yes, but in many women those “signs” can be quite minor. In the old days it wasn’t unusual for a woman not to know she was pregnant for 2-3 months, or at least to be quite uncertain.
Two months. It’s quick, but Amy mentions it at the beginning of “The Impossible Astronaut” that it’s been 2 months since they left the TARDIS. So she’d presumably be somewhere between 2 and 2.5 months pregnant when she mentions it to the Doctor.
Question: After this Saturday “A Good Man Goes to War” will have been broadcast on BBCA, correct? That means we can stop with the spoiler tags after that, right?
It’s been shown in Canada, as of tonight.
Yeah, here in America too.
I thought it was a pretty good episode over-all. And I thought the Sontaran nurse was hilarious.
And the Silurian with her tongue-flick.
She did that after asking her human maid why she put up with her. After the tongue flick the maid smiled. I wonder if they were going for a lesbian angle.
River’s timeline makes my head hurt. They show up to try to get her to join them at the beginning, yet she’s already done it and written it in her diary. But she somehow knows to show up at the end of the battle, which from her point of view happened BEFORE Rory arrived at her prison cell. How did she know to go to Demonsrun?
On an unrelated note, we got a parrot today. By the end of this episode, it was shouting, “Amyyy!”.
I thought it was rather heavily implied.
I think you’re right.
Hey, if you’re in America, you should audition for America’s Got Talent. Two people with talking birds already made it through to the next round :D.
Rewatched the final episode tonight on BBC America.
I think it’s been aired everywhere. So, I’m not using spoiler tags.
Still hard to swallow that River is supposed to be Amy’s middle-aged daughter. Thinking back to the various River episodes last season and earlier this season there’s never been one hint of this relationship. River never acted differently around Amy or Rory at all.
I wonder if baby Melody/River will be seen again? I got a feeling we may jump to a young adult River. It might be more interesting than a baby that can’t deliver lines.
Yeah, I got confused by that, too. She opens her book, sayings “Demon’s Run”, and that today is the day The Doctor finds out who she is. If it’s in her diary, it’s happened for her already.
Then I thought - hang on, all this did happen to her 40-ish years ago when she was a kid. That’s why she knows about it (though I’m not sure how much a new baby would remember, presumably someone filled her in on the details when she got a little older).
That - I think - is why she can’t be there till the end. Because she’s already there, in baby form. Although at some point the baby gets switched out for a Flesh clone, so she’s not really. Or something.
She can’t be there because she wasn’t there, and she knows that already.
Exactly, she can’t show up until the end, because it would create a time paradox to be in the same place as two separate people. She only shows up after baby Melody is gone. I will be interested in seeing how to reconcile the fact that she has not shown any special fondness to Amy or Rory in earlier episodes.
I’m late to the thread, so forgive me if this was covered, but have we seen Lorna Bucket (the soldier who sewed the good luck token) before? She mentioned meeting the Doctor as a child so was that in a previous episode?
First of all, not everyone has a fantastic relationship with their parents. This may apply even more so if River wasn’t raised by them but - for example - spent her formative years locked in an Apollo-era spacesuit/life support pod tended by Silents.
The other thing is that, as a time traveler, River knows the rule is “no spoilers” - even for family. So she kept the relationship hidden until the appropriate time.
No - Lorna is new. She may be from a past adventure we know nothing about, or it may be that her encounter with the Doctor is yet to happen from his (and our) viewpoint.
Okay. Lets look at this
River Song (aka Melony Pond) gets older (or at least on average) everytime she meets the Doctor. Eventually she gets old enough that they have never “meet”.
The Doctor gets older everytime he meets River Song as she gets younger.
The Doctor travels in a little BLUE box. A box thats BIGGER on the inside (they point this out every chance they get you’ll note).
He often meets these various “girl friends” first when they are just little girls. He either takes them on an adventure, has one locally with them, or at least tells them of taking “rides” and going on great adventures. Then he promises to come back, usually while they are young adults. Then of course there was Madam Pompadorre who he wowed as a little girl and young adult and only came back after she was “old” and dead (how convenient).
Now, its revealed he’s got a very special interest in following little Melody Pond around.
These facts lead to an inescapable conclusion.
The Doctor is a space time traveling pedophile using Viagra. It appears he has so far managed to keep his urges on the safe, if not respectable side of legal. But he’s getting older and they are getting younger. We know he did the nasty with River Song when she was younger. I guess we will find out how young eventually.
And notice how he seems to go on these little adventures that nobody else is invited along? Probably to those space time regions where kid protection laws are poor to nonexistent. And he always seems so happy and perked up when he gets back.
Now maybe this whole story is an analogy/warning of the dangers of pedophiles to society, because its becoming obvious that the powers that be think he is a danger. That he is an actual danger to very FABRIC of the universe is just an analogy to the FABRIC of society.
Or maybe its the subversive elements of society trying to show how much FUN this can be and its OKAY and its all just one happy adventure, hoping to one day make it acceptable.
I think the Time Lords back home caught on to his inclinations. Thats why he screwed em over and stole a TARDIS. Heck, even the TARDIS has a woman’s soul. “Sexy” claims she’s old but I bet thats a little self delusional lie she tells herself and everyone else (everyone knows a thousand year old TARDIS isnt even really a teenager yet). “Relative ages and young/old souls” my ass.
Heck, even “Sexy” is in on this. She doesnt take him where he “wants” to go, she takes him where he “needs” to go. He’s trying to supress these urges. Sexy is egging him on, probably to make herself feel better about being a victim.
And note how River Song was telling him how his reputation over time was getting worse and worse and how he was becoming the most feared and hated thing in the universe? Whats hated and feared more than Pedophiles? Demons Run indeed. Even demons don’t want to be associated with that type. Doctor used to mean “wise healer”. Now its “great warrior”. Soon it will be “unstoppable pedophile”. Yeah, he sure is going for his greatest moment to his lowest. Note how he popped off by himself at the end? Thats because he just couldnt control the urges anymore.
Then there are the people he is often around by choice. Military Space Monks for one. We all know those vows of chastity types are a bit warped when it comes to sex. Then, who does he call in for support? Pirates and the British, folks who brought buggery to a high art form. And a lesbian lizard warrior. And some chubby blue guy (thats just gotta be some sorta fetish thing). And some genetically modified lactating male warrior nurse thats bald and has man boobs. Its a virtual assault on mainstream sexual views.
And poor Rorey. The Doctor’s got him running around in a Roman Gladiator suit. And we know all about the Romans and sex. I’d bet good money that Rorey looks just like a young Colligulla when he was dressed up for battle. Reminds the Doctor of his fun visits with the old chap.
Then, the Doctor is always going to ophanages or rescuing little children. The man just can’t help himself though he tries to dress it up.
And those “Angels”/statues he and everyone fear so much? He’s hoodwinked everyone into thinking they are evil. Those actually ARE Angels tasked with taking out God’s vengance on his ass and everyone thats helping him. Damn, even God is having a hard time taking him down.
And the regeneration bit? Isnt that what sexual predators do when the heat is on? Change identity and move to a new town?
It all makes so much sense now…
