New E-mail Virus Warning

Don’t know if anyone else has posted this elsewhere, but I picked this up from the AP Newswire and thought I’d pass it on—

Fresh from fending off the insistent advances of an e-mail
virus disguised as a love letter, computer users were facing
new variations of the destructive bug, one concealed as a
joke, another as a confirmation notice for a Mother’s Day gift order.

At least five variations of the bug were spreading today,
according to computer security company F-Secure Corp. in
San Jose, Calif. One version comes with an attachment labeled “Very Funny,” while another arrives as confirmation that the recipient’s credit card has been charged $326.92 for a Mother’s Day “diamond special,” urging the reader to click on an attachment to print the invoice. Opening either attachment releases the bug.

Thanks for the warning, Eve. I’m passing it onto our tech crew at work. We got fairly fried by the I Love You bug.

This is what is being sent around my office:

The message has a subject of MOTHERS DAY ORDER COMFORMATION. This Virus is a varation of the ILOVEYOU message from yesterday.

There is also another Virus going around. The message has a subject of FORWARD THIS JOKE. This Virus is more SEVERE than the ILOVEYOU message from yesterday.

I hope this helps.
