The LoveBug virus is alive and well

This is neither mundane nor pointless, but unless I downgrade the language and post to the pit no other forum seems to really fit.

The LoveBug virus struck our office today. Everyone in the office saw 4 messages from one of our coworkers. Upon examining the message it was clear that a virus/worm was at play. I sent a warning (high priority) to the entire company telling them to NOT open any attachment called “Very Funny”, but that only helped a little. Somebody else thought that they were getting jokes in the mail and opened the attachment. WHAM! Everyone got four copies from this source as well.

I sincerely hope that everyone is careful with their e-mail attachments.

When the going gets tough,
The tough get duct tape. :wally

Did it set the home page to 202.78.86.25?
BTW don’t go there, children.

Nope. It set the home page to “win-bug-fix.exe” on a remote server.

Apparently someone was ahead of this reincarnation and the page now contained a virus warming and links to several trustworthy sites, such as symantec.

So how would someone do that? It appears to be what happend in our case, but the page was really very crude.
