Warning: virus alter !!!

Just now, I received an e-mail titled “Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, the Real Story” from someone called “HaHaHa.” There were a couple of lines of text and an attachment. The text looked like it was setting up some kind of adult joke. When I went to play the attachment, Norton Anti-Virus jumped in and alerted me that it was a virus! I quarantined the thing, and then deleted it so it can’t hurt my system.

If you receive this e-mail, delete it without opening it!

I got about fifty or so copies of that virus last year, or the beginning of this one. If I recall correctly, it’s either the same or about the same as the ILOVEYOU virus, which is a big meanie. (I may possibly be wrong about that, but I do know they both were bad-ass viruses.)

Luckily I knew it was out there before I got the emails. I never opened it at all; simply deleted them and that was that.

Glad your system wasn’t harmed.

That’s hybris and it’s been around since last November. It’s a slow infector, which means you won’t notice you have it as it sends out one or two messages a day – not enough for your system adminstrator to notice.

Now for the fun part – try going to the http://www.sexyfun.net website (or reply to the message). It’s a site that was set up to warn people of the virus (the site didn’t exist until after the virus was found).
