New England Area 'fest

:stuck_out_tongue: We went for the first time a few weeks ago (we saw Paula Poundstone in concert) and I had a blast. I never thought I would like gambling! We just played to see how long we can make a $20 last… at one point we were a few hundred up!

I was looking forward to seeing you again but c’est la vie. Hope everything works out for you.

MilliCal wants to come. We ate at the Salem Beer works a few weeks ago, and she liked it. So we’ll probably be there.

Groovy. I’ll be leaving Tennessee in about two or three hours and I look forward to meeting all of you.

If any of the attendees are into US or architectural history and you get tired of the latter in Salem, run 6 miles to the east to the town of Marblehead and check out the original painting of the Spirit of '76 which hangs in the town hall (Abbot Hall), the spired red brick Gothic montrosity on top of the tallest hill in town. The building was given to the town by the painting’s artist, Archibald M. Willard.)

Also, there are hundreds of pre-colonial homes in excellent condition, more than in any other location. The Lee Mansion, visited by George Washington, Gen. Lafayette. Many date from the 17th century. They are in the northeast end of the old town. One old house (corner of Gregory and Union Sts.) had its corner cut off to allow Gen. Lafayette’s carriage make the corner, so the story goes. It and the Lee Mansion are at the foot of the Abbot Hall Hill (east side), along with a small museum. Old Burial Hill holds the grave of Gen. John Glover who, with his fishermen/mariners, rowed Washington’s army across the Potomac on Christmas night to defeat the Hessian soldiers. (Rent “The Crossing” with Jeff Daniels as Gen. George for background on that.)

JFrom Salem, jst follow Lafayette St. (Route 114) into town, it runs into Pleasant St. then to Washington St. but there are probably still no streetname signs!!! Several nice restaurants too. Couple of Dopers, too. Don’t park on the street overnight, though, due to snow removal law. Salem, too, I think.

Enjoy my old hometown. And Salem.

7PM Saturday night, kids. (IIRC)

I’m you’re reminder. I look forward to finally meeting the MilliCal amongst others.

I forgot that MilliCal was at camp during the last DopeFest.

Pepper Mill says that, if she comes, we have to record Torchwood. There’s no way she’s gonna miss it, and she refuses to watch the midnight show.

Take pictures!
I’ll see some of you in April, right? What’s the deal with that one again?

**What Exit? **is coming to town. It’s unofficially official. We just pay attention to the ones coming up sooner, so we’ll start on the details after Saturday. Sometime either April 18th, 19th, or 20th I believe.

April 14th or 15th are best for me. I’ll have to bump the other thread soon.

Do we have an official count or reservations or anything? How will we know when we have everyone?

I’ll be heading North in an hour or so, so there’s at least me!

See you guys there!

Thanks for gathering to greet me. I enjoyed myself, though it was probably hard to tell considering how quiet I was through most of the festivities. It was great meeting all of you though, especially **Autolycus **and JustAnotherGeek.

Thank you Aesiron! Yes, I do believe a great time was had by all. Great food, great beer, and great people… what more can you ask for? A few dopers had cameras, so hopefully there will be pictures forthcoming.

Dancing monkeys? There really should have been dancing monkeys.

It was really a great time. Thanks to everyone for the excellent company, and special thanks to beebs and Geek for the rides.

Thanks to all for showing up! Pepper Mill and MilliCal really enjoyed themselves.
But next time, I think we’ll make sure the meeting place takes reservations. (We waited over an hour to get seated)

Autolycus, CalMeacham, and **PepperMill **
CalMeacham, tdn, Hawkeye, and **mmouse **
mmouse, Hawkeye, tdn, and **bbs2k **

I somehow avoided taking JustAnotherGeek’s picture, alas.

Pardon the poor photography skills. Even calling me a novice photographer would probably be a stretch.

tdn, did you shave your head? Lookin’ good there, fella.

Oddly enough, so did I!

(Pictures coming soon; having connectivity issues.)
