New Giant XKCD strip

Best bit:

The Death Star plans are not in the main computer.

Darn.

See if we had found them in the main computer it would be good news since it would mean that no one else had them. But since we didn’t find them, we need to keep searching for anyone with a copy. That all makes sense and I definitely understand how computers work.

I recall this very discussion happening on SDMB within the last month.

Speaking as another webcomic creator:

GODDAMMIT, RANDALL!

Is there some context for that bit about the Death Star plans? Is the new Star Wars movie trying to claim that, or something?

Its only like the entire plot of A New Hope…

Not cool, Randall, killing Artax again.

I did like the bit with the people throwing a boatload of rings into the lava. “One of these is probably a ring of power.” :smiley:

According to wikiquote, the actual line is:

[QUOTE=Nahdonnis Praji]
Lord Vader, the battle station plans are not aboard this ship, and no transmissions were made. An escape pod was jettisoned during the fighting. No life forms were on board.

Apparently even the most minor character has a name and back story.

As much fun as it was, I was hoping the people would be interactive, and that there would be a reference to Time.

Is there a practical limit to how big these worlds can be? Now I’m envisioning a to-scale XKCD Death Star.

No practical limit to sheer size, just to the amount of detail. The blank spaces don’t actually have images for them. With a slight tweak, you could make a separate blank space for solid-white areas and solid-black areas.
