BTW,mangeorge, X-stitching is short for cross-stitching, which he does quite nicely, thank you. One of these days, he’ll even be better at it than I am.
Also, I have known pipefitter for many years, from his active duty AF days. He’s a true blue friend, and just nutty enough to hang out here with us.

With our new friend, pipefitter on board & mangeorge, an electritian (we called them “wire jerks”). Myself a retired construction tradesman, I wonder how many other dopers are. Maybe, we could start our own company! I started work for a boiler manufacturer I worked in the service & erection dep’t. Immagine my shock when I found that I was construct & start-up industrial boilers!

Welcome to the asylum. You’ll find we’re all nice quiet normal people here, particularly after we’ve had our electroshock therapy.
Don’t worry about being called a sock puppet, cris. These days just about everyone who shows up gets called a sock puppet or a troll right off the bat. Unfortunately, there’s no sexual innuendo involved. 
Basically, a troll is a poster who makes irritating or wise-ass posts just to annoy other people. When everyone begins to ignore a troll, sometimes he, she or it will invent a sock puppet, a new screen name that serves to post on the threads after the troll telling the troll how wise, smart, and brilliant the troll is.
You probably made the grevious mistake of agreeing with something that someone suspected of being a troll said. When a new poster does that, the accusations of sock-puppetdom will come flying. Think nothing of it, your true nature will come out real soon, and you’ll fit in just fine.
Pipefitter, maybe you can tell me something that I’ve wanted to know for a while. What is the difference between a pipefitter and a steamfitter?

I really wished i knew, as far as i know, the difference is in the size of the piping being worked on, and what is involved(steam fitters are usually certified welders also).

Some people say that cats are sneaky, evil, and cruel. True, and they have many other fine qualities as well.
I’m brand-spankin’ new and I think I could grow to like it. My only reservation is, how will I know who is friend and who is foe? Can all the trolls and sockpuppets identify yourselves right off the bat so us newbies will know who to hate right off? I’d really appreciate it. Maybe we could use a code or something…whaddy’all think?
