Different = better.
I’m sure you were told that you were special…as in “Special Ed.” So how is the ride on those “special” short school buses?

Born in Red Bank in Monmouth County.
Raised in Lakehurst in Ocean County.
Went to college at Princeton in Mercer County.
Lived for a year in Jersey City (Essex County), another 13 years in New Brunswick (Middlesex County), now living in Somerset (Somerset County) for the last year.
Work in Oldwick (Hunterdon County).
I think I qualify.
Oh, and I pronounce my “r”'s. I always thought people who tawk and go to the mawl were from Lung Guyland.

I’m from Bloomingdale. It’s kinda in the north.
I was born in Philly while my family lived in Cherry Hill. We moved when I was about 5 to East Brunswick where we stayed until I was 17.
After that I moved down here to Florida where I have been for about 10 years. While Jersey definetly has it’s moments, I really don’t miss it much. My brother lives in plainsboro still. It’s fun to visit.
A Californian living in East Brunswick, slave to Rutgers. I rather like it here when I’m not ranting about the drivers.
Born and raised in Ramsey, NJ - near Mahwah, and Suffern NY.
JerseyDiamond I still go hiking in Wanaque, just east of Greenwood Lake.
soulmurk and Anni-Xmas, how you doin?
I still consider myself as “living” there, even though I’m really “living” abroad. . .
Tripler
Coming to you live from a cellular modem.
My daughter was born in Morristown, NJ. She’s the only native in our family.
However, I loved it when I was there. We lived in Somerville and I could ride my mountain bike along the canals all the way to Princeton and back after work.
I also loved Long Beach Island (LBI). One of my favorite bars in the world was Ricks in Barnegat Light. I would surf for a couple hours in Harvey Cedars or Surf City, then knock back some cold ones to some great live music.
I’ve been transferred around a lot with my job (Detroit, Seattle, Denver, San Diego, Chicago, New York, Dallas (yuck), and Tampa (yuck)) and NJ was one of my favorite places.
Toms River here
I am from Trenton originally, but have lived in Ohio for over 10 years now. Growing up we spent the summers in Cape May and Wildwood. Cape May diamonds, the concrete ship, and the Wildwood piers - all good. Nothing good to say about Trenton, though.
Yo!

Not a native, but happy to be here in the prettiest part of NJ.
Born in da Bronx, but I got my first job out of college in Madison NJ, and the first place I ever lived outside of my parents’ house was in Summit. Summit was amazing, Madison endlessly beautiful. After that I moved back to the Bronx for a few years, but then wound up in Dumont and now live in Closter (one town over from Westwood up here in Bergen County). We chose Closter for a simple reason: the nicest people we ever met, collectively speaking. We’ve got a few nutcases, of course, but overall, the people here are priceless. (My son’s a native, having been born in Pascack Valley Hospital, over in Westwood.)
The location ain’t bad either: short drive to NYC, only slightly longer drive to the Catskills (45 minutes to West Point on a clear weekend day), hour and a half away from the Shore, etc., etc. And living next to the Palisades means it’s only a short drive to a spot where you can stare at amazing views of the Hudson for as long as you feel like it.
I did that “It ain’t Newark” thing with my brother-in-law, who grew up in NYC and Mexico, then wound up working in Newark for a while. First time he came to visit us, when we lived in Dumont, he was amazed.
Westfield. Love it.
Mount Laurel (Burlington County) here, though I grew up in Willingboro. I’m another one of those “different” people from South Jersey. Good post Philster.
Living in Somerset County now. My son was born here in NJ. It’s beautiful were I am, but unfortunately its a 15 minute drive to get to any store from here.
Moved to Hoboken in '94. Never thought there really was a town called “Hoboken”
Bloomfield (Essex co.), grew up in Haledon (Passaic co.)
Grew up in Upper Montclair (Essex Co), my high school had a gorgeous view of the NYC skyline. I come back every summer just for the iris garden.
My parents moved to some hidden part of Wayne (Passaic Co) when I was in college, and I’m going to be moving back with them (at least briefly) once I finish my master’s degree at BU in May.
Somerset NJ here. Born here, always lived here, still live here. Love being able to get to either NYC, Jersey shore, rolling farmlands, Pine Barrens, or Philadelphia for a day trip. Or just sit on my porch and watch the wild turkeys, deer & birds. Or I can get to almost anything I want to shop for in a half hour. What more could anyone ask? I’ve seen prettier beaches than Island Beach State Park, but I had to get on a plane to the Caribbean or the south Pacific to do so.
Never believe the people who have only seen NJ from the Turnpike.
Oh, yes: Jersey tomatoes. mmmmm… Jersey tomatoes.
Ah, Pennsylvania. “The Laws are Different There”
I’m from the Union area but now I live in Colorado Springs.
I lived in Saddle Brook, N.J.(Bergen County) for about 15 years. I live in PA now, but all of my friends and family are still there, so I hang around down there a lot.
