New Judge Dredd Movie Teaser Trailer

But why oh why didn’t Mean’s forehead dial read SURLY, MEAN, VICIOUS and BRUTAL?

Anthrax on the soundtrack or they don’t get my money.

Knowing squat about the comic, I enjoyed the first Dredd. And I’ve always liked Karl Urban; big plus to the fact that he played in the newish Star Trek movie and I DIDNT RECOGNIZE HIM, even though I loved the Bones interpretation.

So…I’m looking forward to this. To me it doesn’t even look like the same movie as the first one, and I expect a completely different experience.

Still hanging out for Judge Death.

:mad::smack: they couldn’t spell it?

Robocop was the real Judge Dredd movie.

I don’t know how anyone can dislike a movie which featured Diane Lane in her heyday…

I recall J.D. fan friends of mine being livid because the Stallone version showed him with his helmet off.

The trailer makes it looks like a ripoff of The Raid.

Jeesus, how old was he? Looks like he wasn’t even shaving yet. That fresh faced little boy turned into a damn sexy man.

I think however that somebody needs to make an ABC Warriors movie: who doesn’t want to see the Dirty Dozen meets the Magnificent Seven with war robots?

eta: hey, someone mocked up a trailer for one.

That looks ridiculously awful, low rent, and oddly small in scope.

I’m another person who saw the trailer and said “didn’t I just see this in The Raid?”

That said hardly anybody saw The Raid so that probably doesn’t much matter and runnin tha gauntlet is hardly an original idea. But the cut of the trailer does make it look very similar in setup.

Hey, first reviews are looking good.

100% so far on Rotten Tomatoes: sounds like the low-key gritty feel is working in its favour.

Been kinda in the mood for some eye-candy lately, might go to the midnight screening tonight (not as an uber-fan, just that midnight screenings fit well into my unconventional personal schedule).

Never saw the Stallone version, never read the comic. I do however like Karl Urban- I haven’t seen much of his work, but his performance in Lord of the Rings made me want to see more of his character and he was easily my favorite part of the Star Trek remake (which I even liked overall, didn’t love but liked well enough).

Just thought I’d check in here with fans of the Stallone version / fans of the comic / fans of the genre to see who’s into it. To see what interest there is.

I saw Dredd on Tuesday, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It has all the mix of action, drama, humour, character moments I was hoping it would, and even a few surprises. One very pleasant surprise was how well it uses the 3D, which is usually more of an irritant to me, but actually serves a purpose here, rather than just being a gimmick. Some of the scenes are quite stunning, visually.

Yes, it’s clearly been made on a low budget for an action movie of this sort, but by choosing to tell a smaller story in restricted setting, the creative team have been able to use their money to the best effect.

What’s especially pleasing to me, as someone who read 2000AD from Prog 1, is that everyone involved clearly gets the character of Judge Dredd and the setting of Megacity One. I’m a fan of superhero and comic book movies in general, but I can’t think of the last film adaptation I saw that was so close in feel to its source material.

It is very violent, though, so if blood and body parts aren’t entirely your thing, this may not be the movie for you.

In the end, I left the cinema very much wanting to see more of this Judge Dredd.

Well, that sounds promising, WotNot. Your post might have cemented my evening’s plans.

Hell, if JUdge Dredd co-creator John Wagnerthinks its a good adaptation that’s good enough for me.

I am so in for this.
