Who can see anything but that cat’s hypnotic blue eyes. [drone] …Hail, kitty overlord… [/drone]
Is there any chance you could keep the little sister?

UPDATE, and renewed request for help!
First, new, irresistible adorableness has been uploaded to the kittens’ page.
Now for the bad news: We thought we had good news last night when a friend of my neighbor’s who does cat rescue said that if we caught her by today, she’d take her to be spayed and then take her in for adoption. So we got up before dawn to set the trap for her, so that if we were successful, at least she wouldn’t have spent potentially the whole night in that tiny cage. We got very lucky, in that she wandered in within 30 minutes of putting it out, but very UNlucky when we were told later in the morning that the woman didn’t have any room for her.
I was (and still am) livid! Do not tell me you’ll take a cat, get me to trap her, then reneg on your word! NOW what am I supposed to do with this trapped cat!!!
It took major scrambling around, but I found another group that was willing to take her for testing and spaying for a donation of only $100, but couldn’t keep her to adopt out, so I set it up. At the same moment that Thomas (Spiny Norman) went out to the porch to pick her up and take her to them, the neighbor was there with another friend, having also worked out the same arrangement – tests and spaying, but no adoption, only they weren’t charging for it, so they took her to that group’s vet instead. So now we have to pick her up on Thursday and figure out someplace to keep her while we try to find a home for a very scared, adult cat.
(Thomas and I are making a donation to the first rescue group anyway).
So now we’re DESPERATE. We really, really need a kind person who has a spare room they can house a kitty in until we can get her adopted. Is there no one in the L.A. area who can help us out? Pretty please?
I’m terribly sorry to say I’m too far away and not able to adopt or foster a pet anyway. I just wanted to offer some warm fuzzies and moral support for all the good you’re doing for those kitties. Good job, Shayna!
I wish I could adopt one of your cute little kittens! They are simply adorable. We have one cat right now and had just been talking about adopting another so they could could keep each other company while we’re at work. But unfortunately I am very far away. I hope it works out!!
Thank you Penchan and TupeloHoney (and everyone else, too, of course). The latest is that the other woman my vet knew of who had previously wanted a pair of kittens, has already found a pair. So now we need homes for all 3; mamma, a very playful little boy kitty and a very shy and sweet girl kitty.
The first kitten, who’s already been adopted out, is now named Gracie, and I am told by my vet’s office that she is doing beautifully in her new home.
I feel the same way. You’re a good person for helping the kitties, Shayna! Oh, and Sam and Libby are adorable!
Update: Sam and the mamma kitty both have new homes now! More details and a new picture have been added to the web page.
So now we just have little Libby, who’s coming out of her shell like crazy! I actually spent the night at the office with her, since she’d be alone for the first time in her little life, and my suspicions that she’d do better without her brother have been confirmed. While he was here, he’d torment her, chasing her around and biting her hard enough to make her squeal. She’d chase him back sometimes (which was kindof fun to watch them run around and play together), but he always had the upper hand. And one time when he was eating, she cautiously tried to approach the bowl to eat alongside him, and without lifting his head or missing a beat, he just lifted his paw, bopped her in the head and made her sulk away. ![]()
Also, whenever she’d find a toy, or her favorite ribbon to play with, he would inject himself and take it away from her – the big bully. Now she plays and plays with no one to interfere. At one point last night she just started spontaneously purring while playing, and I wasn’t even petting or touching her in any way. And she spent at least part of the night curled up sleeping at the foot of the bed with me (we brought an air mattress to the office).
So that’s where we are as of now. Thanks again for everyone’s kind words.
