I just got a new monitor yesterday. My old Dell just went dark. You never realize how bad your old monitor got until you replace it. The degrading is so slow and gradual that you get used to it.
Question is. is there a correct setting or is it all what you are comfortable with? the new monitor seems to have a cinemascopic effect. It compresses things in the vertical. Appears to spread things in the horizontal.
You need to set your screen resolution to the correct one and maybe some driver settings. You may also have to adjust the monitor, but that is unlikely.
I will second Harmonious Discord’s comment. Your new monitor may be 16x9 while the old one was 4x3 causing the display to look stretched at the same resolution. If you want to tweak out your color and contrast settings, I will suggest Monitor Calibration Wizard. It is an older program, but it is free, non-intrusive, and works quite well.
LCD monitors have a native resolution. This should be mentioned on your packaging. Change your display settings to match, and everything should look better.
Well, it’s possible that everything will look too small. That was a pain to fix in Windows XP, and I don’t know about later versions.
I changed the display settings and it looks good. thanx. When i got into yahoo mail they counseled me to put it on the wrong setting.
