As that and his reported homophobia shows, he only demonstrates the typical symptoms of a crank magnet. People that fall for conspiracy theories usually end up showing that they believe in more than one.
There is a lot of harm made by following this anti-vaccine conspiracy theory.
Sorry Clothy, this yahoo is coming from the racist right. I have seen a lot of Republican candidates (like Trump) also defending this tripe, this CT has several followers from the left but it has become part of right wing nutery and showed by several Republicans in leadership positions.
I would just like to say that anti-vaccination people need to think about this: there are families where only one of the children have Autism. And the chances are very low that another child before or after the autistic one will also have it. Now, think for a second… I have never heard of someone vaccinating one kid then not the others. So if all the kids are getting vaccinated and only one comes up with Autism, I feel like there’s too much of a reasonable doubt to blame a vaccination.
I’ve studied only minimally genetics. I’m an undergrad student and did a good bit of research on genetic diseases and though my paper was on HD, researching one disease leads to all other information on genetics. I’m taking Genetics this Spring too. And an easy way to put it is that sometimes in the process of DNA mixing or recombination, protein building or folding, in transcription, translation, or just in gene expression in general shit gets fucked up. Something gets left out, jumbled up, duplicated (as in HD with the repeats), whatever–I’m skeptical of the vaccination culprit. Reasonable doubt, man.
Now that this is in the Pit, I can tell you EXACTLY how I feel: you’re a piece of shit, and you willingly risk the life of your child and others based on some quack theory.
Get this through your thick fucking skull: you and your ilk are pushing the idea that autism is a fate worse than death. Because vaccination prevents deadly diseases. You really think it’s worth exposing a child to fucking whooping cough? You want to watch your kid cough so hard he breaks his ribs? Do you want to see kids going blind or brain damaged from high fevers caused by the measles? Because that is fucking reality, jackass.
Yes, you’re the parent of a child with autism. However, you’re NOT someone who has lost a child to a disease that could easily be prevented by vaccination. I think they have much of a right than you do to be pissed off about this.
Urbanredneck, it has been a long time since I have seen an OP get it’s ass this thoroughly kicked. I mean pummeled. Skewered by science. Destroyed by data. If you had any sense, you would’ve thrown in the towel pages ago.
You keep fightin’, though! Law of large numbers says you are bound to stumble across a valid point eventually.
I’m sorry to say that the anti-Vax nutters in Marin county probably count as being from the left. And there are more than a few of them. But the liberal California legislature eliminated the personal and religious vaccine exemption. But so did the not very liberal Alabama legislature.
Your first link is problematic because it tries to make an HTTPS connection. This is the right link.
But to add to what you’ve said, the OP also appears to be an Islamophobic bigot. The point of that thread, to save readers time, is “there are Muslims around and we’re not gonna take it any more!”.
The OP has been sufficiently piled on that I don’t really want to add to it, but suffice it to say that whatever shapes his beliefs like homophobic and Islamophobic bigotry is consistent with the uninformed nonsense in the OP.
With regard to conflicting claims that it’s the left that is anti-vax and then, no, it’s the right, it’s probably both to some degree but for different reasons. To the extent that anyone on the left may be anti-vax, it’s probably a naively misplaced distrust of “Big Pharma” and being misinformed on the extent of the scientific evidence. Bill Maher lately doesn’t seem to want to talk about it any more. Maybe it’s a transition to admitting he was wrong. Those on the right who take that position seem to find it consistent with general anti-science attitudes and being well immersed in conspiracy theories from talk radio and Fox News. I suspect that the left may be far more easily persuaded that though Big Pharma may be self-serving profiteers, in this case the clinically assessed evidence is overwhelmingly on their side. Whereas the right-wing types are pretty much mired in their world of plots and conspiracies.
Completely unfair to Independence Day. Until we meet aliens with such technology, we have no proof that hacking it wouldn’t be exactly as shown. We do, however, have mountains of proof that Vaxxed is complete bullshit.
Yeah. And this is a good thing. It means it’s not a part of any particular political identity. That’s really important. I mean, we can all agree that the climate change denial thing is stupid, right? Well, turns out, a large part of the reason republicans believe differently on this is because of their grouping. It’s because when other people tell you “your tribal group believes stupid shit”, the immediate, natural response is to say, “That shit isn’t stupid! I believe that too!” - regardless of whether or not it actually is stupid. Turn this into a partisan issue, and vaccination rates will drop drastically as one political party simply starts refusing to get the shots.
urban redneck: Because of people just like you, anti-vaxers–and, yes, you are an anti-vaxer, no matter what you want to call yourself…look up "a distinction without a difference–that so much money is being wasted that could be better spent on actual public health issues. Your and your ilk’s stunning and obstinate love of your own ignorance and dishonesty regarding vaccines is not a public health issue in itself; it’s a public education issue. You need to learn what a fact is and what evidence is. And you need to quit spreading lies about vaccines.
