New "Naked Gun" movie starting Liam Neeson

It is this scene that told me he would be perfect in the new Naked Gun movie.

Haha, thanks. I had seen both exhibit A and exhibit B, but both long enough ago that rewatching them were funny all over again. Neeson can definitely pull off deadpan comedy in the Nielsen style as well as any actor these days.

Spurred me to look up the ‘Derry Girls’ cameo that had been mentioned in this thread but not linked to, which I had not seen, and it is similar deadpan comedy gold.

Exhibit C:

Nothing meaningful to add to the thread.

But despite having correctly read many posters upthread speaking of the Derry Girls, somehow when I saw @solost’s vid cite I read that as Dreary Girls.

In my defense, they did look sort of UK dreary, conventional, & boring.

Carry on.

For those who don’t know about this program, it’s a television series on the British channel called Channel 4. It’s set in the city of Derry (also known as Londonderry) in Northern Ireland. It ran from January 4, 2018 to May 18, 2022.

It’s streaming on Netflix. I’ve seen a few episodes of it, but not the Neeson clip until now.

There’s a clip with Liam Neeson doing some funny by being serious at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9NzhjcPsQQ .

And there’s also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojzQncTbYQQ .

But have you seen his Liam Neeson impression?

How about a gender-flipped remake with Laraine Newman?

I would pay good money to see a version with Lupita Nyong’o.

Agreed. Besides it would be on everyone’s mind if they would acknowledge OJ’s role in the original. This way they put it right out front.

I was too young to remember OJ playing football, so Hertz commercials and the Naked Gun movies were my main memory of him.

We thought he was such a jovial, easy going guy. I saw him on Letterman one time and he was really charming and well spoken.

And Nordberg is a pretty well acted part considering he wasn’t an actor.

Then again…He obviously he had periods of hyper-rage and more or less psychotic breaks.

I’m…still not entirely sure why he was so particularly mad at his ex-wife the day of the murder or the days leading up to it.

He did have a lot of trauma in his life.

Man, I need to see these movies again. I barely remember that.

Gag movies like this are rare, now. If this new Naked Gun can pull it off, it might work.

If.

Not hopeful of that. Didn’t find the trailer at all funny. Saw the jokes coming.

In memory of Val Kilmer (and because we needed a few good laughs this week) my wife and I watched Kilmer’s debut movie last night, Top Secret. Not quite as funny as Airplane!, but pretty funny.

He was in A Million Ways To Die In The West. So no.

But he was also in The Lego Movie.

And The Nut Job.
